My brother beat it.
I'm currently before the third and final battle with Sin (not the end, just the battle to enter Sin's body).

I bought the International Version and beat it. Some things are actually harder in that -- smaller Sphere Grid to reduce twinking potential, and if you didn't pick up and use the Besaido or Macalania item spheres the first time through, you'd have to fight through Dark Shiva and Dark Valefor to get to them. That isn't very fun, especially without Anima. I fought Penance for over an hour before finally pulling out Yojimbo and ending it with Zanmatou. Not very satisfying, so I'll probably try and kill it "fairly" sometime in the future.

Played through twice. And more blizball than is sane.
In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. If I wish, I can smash it all. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that raze the mounds of humanity. Out of chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well.

I've beaten it, and have an on-again, off-again attempt at maxing stats to fight Nemesis. I'm glad I don't need to deal with the Dark Aeons.

He casts petrify and most of the time i don't get a chance to use a soft thing before the critter attacks and smashes my guy. i got so pissed off with it i just quit playing. However i had already owned everyon at blitzball
