I think I've figured out hacking, but does anyone know how you can get sword as a weapon?

I believe that all versions of the game are identical in this respect, so check this site. As you can see, it's a rather complicated procedure.

The sword sucks, it makes your throws one hit kills, but against anything not human it doesn't do anything, and it makes killing vampires harder.

It kills Smith though.
