Java plugin for Mozilla under Linux

First off, this isn't about my own computer. I installed and got the Java 2 SDK plus the Mozilla plugin working just fine.

The problem is my dad's computer. He was having some problems with Mozilla 1.3 abruptly exiting on him, so I decided that an upgrade might fix the problem. (It did.) However, that meant that I had to copy what plugins I could over to the new Mozilla dir. And for the life of me I can't remember how the fuck I'm supposed to reinstall the Java plugin...

Anyone here familiar with this?

Um, damn. Do a search for np*.so on your machine and copy them all over to the mozilla/bin/plugin directory?

Didn't work. I know where the Netscape/Mozilla plugins are located, but IIRC the Java SDK came with a program to install them. (Copying the plugin, or linking to it, prevents Mozilla from loading).

So I have no clue where that plugin install script went...

Never mind, I found the problem. According to the instructions, when making the symbolic link, you have to specify a space and period after the path to the plugin. I forgot to do that, and as a result the plugin was making Mozilla crash.

I had the exact same problem for a while too, except under Win2k. then the problem disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared in the first place...
