Comp Question

Post by haas mark »

I have a question for you guys I'm not sure about..

There's this.. thing.. that we try to open on my comp, and every time we try to do so, it says, "Socket Error." What does that mean, and how do I fix it?

Try getting Hijackthis (link) and posting the resulting scan log here :) I'll see what I can do. 8)

What are you running? Some version of Windows I presume?

Occasionally, if a program was badly written, it'll produce a lot of socket errors. Has something to do with Winsock IIRC, but I'm not really thinking well at the moment (2 AM local time...)

Talked to Hyperion over IM earlier, and found that this file (an e-book that is in .exe format) would work on one user account, but not the main one. Anyways, here's the Hijackthis log:

Looks like a poorly-written program designed for 9X - and doesn't take into account NT's security model.

You got other trouble beyond a simple 'socket error' warning. These need fixing. Light Blue is an IGetNet Browser Hijack, Red is a SuperBar Browser Parasite, Blue is RealPlayer Spyware/Bloat, and Yellow is a Fucking Huge Boatload of Porn Dialers. Stay away from hetero porn sites while using M$IE...

Fix these tho. 8)
