Now you can *legally* get Steam 2.0 (which is currently the only way to play Counter-Strike 1.6) from their official website. Before, you could get it everywhere. Now, noone cares if you do!
Off-topic: I am playing DoD. I take back all I said about it, I love the new version. Soo fun. In fact, I'm off to play right now.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

yes it was. They allowed people do download it for like an hour, got their servers overloaded, then denied ever releasing it. So, noone was supposed to have it. Not really illegal, but ya, you could only get it from everywhere BUT the official place, now you can get it officially.Hamel wrote:I've had steam on my HD since january It wasn't illegal back then to get it either

Currently it is free. In the future, they plan to let you download steam, then pay for a game, download the crucial parts of the game, and be just like downloading it off a CD. If you already HAVE the game (such as Half-Life), you input your CD key, and it acts as a subscription for the game, forever (no pay-per-month crap here, as far as I know). It is a very good system, I think.Mutant Headcrab wrote:How "free" is Steam? Im often times skeptical about these kinds of things. If I get it I want to make sure there isn't any kind of catch, behind using it.
Oh, and the videos from Half-Life 2 (the parts of the presentation from E3 first, then more) are being released (very high quality, no shaky digital camera footage) for Steam subscribers ONLY. I've seen the first video, looks fucking incredible. GET STEAM!
