It probably just means id software took a look at Half-Life 2 and decided they needed to work on the game some more. :P

Na, they just missed a deadline or something. Even in it's current state, Doom 3 gives HL2 a good run for its money.

IIRC, the release date for D3 was never actually released, only assumed to be sometime in Q4 2K3.

Even if it were given a date, I don't care if it's delayed a little so long as it's complete upon release. Better to suck in the pride a little and admit you made a mistake rather than bluster forward and throw a fuckton of patches at the people.
