my computer crashed

so, i walk in the door after work yesterday, and I smell this weird smell - i thought it was burnt something or other. i walk over to my comp, try to turn it on - nothing happens. seems the weird smell is coming from my computer! so, i dug up my receipt, and it seems as if i have one month left on the extended warranty i bought when i got the computer. took it back to future shop today, i'll know what happened in a few days. i think the fan broke, and the processor (or something) overheated and blew, taking the rest of my computer with it.
luckily, i backed up my files a month or so ago, so nothing major is gonna be gone if the hd went, and since the computer is so old, and the warranty a full-service one, i'll probably receive a new, better computer for free in a few days. right now, i'm using my mom's laptop (i hate laptop keyboards, but like win xp), so i won't be here too much over the next few days.
btw, do you think my processor blew or what?

You like windows XP? that is the craziest thing ive heard in a while.

1. Moved to G&C.
2. Windows XP is one of the more stable Windows platforms.
3. Matt, your computer probably blew its proc. If you're lucky it didn't trash your hard drive.

Yeah, looks like the CPU fan toasted itself, taking down the processor with it (older ones - be they Intel or AMD - did not have protection circuitry on them)
