The Register is running a story about an analyst's prediction that IBM will buy up AMD eventually. The recent and tight collaborations between the two companies would seem to point in that direction.

The Register, IMNSHO, is a pretty bad source, but I'll bite.

I don't quite see it, though. So they're working on x86-64, big deal. They worked on PowerPC for years and just came out with the PPC970, it hardly means that they're going to buy out Apple too.
