Ace, I was supporting your 9700PRO purchase. And I wasn't very clear, I know, but I bascially meant: if you need high end, get a 9800PRO or 5900 non-ultra. I think these can be found for less than $300US?

sorry, my bad for not understanding.

a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB is 299$, strange that a 256MB and a XT have the same Price.

Nvidia 128 MB 5900 will set you back around 200$, while a 256 will use allmost 300$.

*end geek show*

Wish I still had that quote Mike made in my sig. I'll try and reproduce from memory.

"ATI should just put a big sign that says "Fuck you Linux users!" on their website to save us the trouble of figuring out their Linux strategy for ourselves." - Darth Wong
But how long ago was that, and have they changed their policies at all in the meantime?

ATI recently released some new Linux drivers, but they still aren't as good as nVidia's.

If you can find it, a RAdeon 9500 Pro is a great card... cheap with great performance. If you NEED the latest texel shaders or whatever it's called for the DX 9.X games, go with the 9600Pro.
