IE and Installing Programs

Post by Lord Poe »

This problem just popped up tonight. I was trying to install a new game, and during thr process, IE kept opening a new window about 500 times! I thought it may be a corrupted game, so I tried with another game: same deal!

I tried to run Spybot Search, and it happened again. I tried deleting IE entirely, and it says Windows is using it.

What kind of fucking gremlin found its way on my 'puter?

Updated SS&D lately?

Oh yeah: Don't use IE. IE is for losers ;)

EDIT: You might have a virus too.

Problem is that Mozilla and Firebird don't display vBulletin forums correctly. I use vB a lot, so I have to use IE more than I would like.
vB3 should fix that though.

vB has worked fine on Mozilla for years - I've browed Spacebattles with it since the old Milestone builds. You should contact Kier on SB, though, he's the head dev for vB, IIRC.

Poe: Update SS&D then run a scan. Also, grab HijackThis! and post the log here.

It works, the problem is when you reply, the text box is squished widthwise. I've had this on every vB forum I've gone on with Firebird. If SB is unaffected, they might have used a hack.

Yup, the update helped. One big problem was this piece of crap called n-CASE. I removed it manually before, but it had a lot more components to it than I realized.

Still can't start "Simpsons Hit and Run" though...

Please post the HijackThis log anyway. I could spot some things someone else could miss...
