Are you on XP? If so the easiest thing to do is to get the hacked DLL that lets you use custom skins then just download the skins. No extra apps to run or anything. That is what you want right? To skin over windows?

Right.. It's when I'm running them that I run into problems. Confuses the hell out of me.

WindowBlinds is a complete fuck-up of system DLLs, it uses its own routines to hack into windows and replace the graphics at redraw-time (that's why it works even on Windows 95/98/ME that don't have an internal skin system). It has lots of bugs, reduced stability, etc. I heard the reason Micro$hit removed the ability to use skins (after it was already implemented) was because they made WBs the "official" skinning package for Windows - probably some kind of weird nepotism.

Get ThemeXP or some other hack. They simply tap into the XP skin system, making it believe it's one of the default 3 skins or something, and it works - no intrusive background-running app that intercepts onPaint messages, etc. The downside of course is that there are 1000s of skins for WB while there's only a few dozens for ThemeXP.
