How can I track down the program causing a pop up?

Post by Superman »

I keep getting this same damn pop up, and I can't find what is causing it. I have run 'Ad Aware' but it didn't seem to get rid of it. Is there any way to track it down to delete it?

Look through your program files for anything suspicious and check and see if you can't block it w/ fire wall settings. Other than that i dunno.

there's a handful of other spyware utilities out there that work as good as if not better than ad-aware. one place you might want to check into is Spyware Info. the site there is completely dedicated to spyware removal and has tons of useful info. including links to the latest builds of various anti spyware/malware proggies.

Are you behind a firewall? What OS are you running? Is is possible you have the Messenger Service running on an NT/2K/XP machine?

Spy++ is the last word in tracking rogue windows. Unfortunately few people have this since it is used primarily by computer programmers.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
