Squinting in the unfamiliar light, they move up the next flight of stairs and into a very bright, decayed, half-buried room. Anyone straining to make a quick glance upwards will catch a glimpse through half the collpased ceiling at the incredible expanse of blue-gray that shines with tremendous brightness. It comes off as an unfathomable ethereal space to the Vault-dwellers.

Mark is more concerned wih climbing the last set of stairs, a very wide slope of sand on the opposite side of this long hall, than to put much thought into the abscence of a ceiling, though if he does look up at it he'll be a little too bamboozled at the sight to recall any notable information about the sky. It crosses Paul and Floyd's minds that all this light is eminating from the 'sun', though for some reason it cannot be viewed from this position. Floyd checks his Pipboy's map and determines that this room faces West, while Iowa City lies generally North of the Vault complex.

They squint and blink a few times, still having trouble seeing clearly in the indirect sunlight, and make their w sand it's buried under makes finding the step a bit complicated ((So yeahay up the dirt slope. It's less steep than the other flights, but the amount of, this counts as an action so it's a skill check. Cautious walking speed is half normal speed but one difficulty level lower, and since Floyd went up the last flight cautiously, I'll roll for that difficulty)).

Of couse, since these three are all in rather good shape and are apropriately nimble, they go up one step at a time without fault, finding each and every step under the sand by elemantary intuition and coordination, and could have easily jogged up them.

((I'll leave it here for anyone to make some final decisions and checks before I reveal their acessment of the ground level, then you can make your final choices for directions and whatnot to go off on your journey to wherever. Did Floyd ever share his datadisk with Mark and Paul? I can't recall, but if not he should at an apropriate time, so they can check the map, clock, notes, and useful diagrams and data when they need to.))
