Never played any Final Fantasy games and never cried during playing a game. The Final Fantasy movie was good though. The death scene of the black guy in the buggy, Jane and the other soldier were well done and emotionaly moving.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I've never cried, but the most depressing scene in any FF game I've played so far was relatively recent. Actually, it happened on Sunday, when I completed the part in FFX where the joint Crusader/Al Bhed force failed to complete their operation against Sin...and then...watching Sin vape all those people...the music was so sad and the destruction so complete...
Sin at Kilika was pretty depressing too, especially with Yuna doing the Sending.

There are some parts in FF6 that are a bit depressing too, though I haven't finished it yet. I have to agree with Mr. Bean's post (is that the Terra theme in piano you're talking about?).

Also, since it's on the Final Fantasy Chronicles set, Chrono Trigger. When they first go to 2300AD and find the computer record of the Day of Lavos in Arris Dome, when they had that modified Lavos theme with the sad, quiet piano part...and also at the normal ending, where everyone goes back to their own times...the Marle theme there is so bittersweet, and the ending cinema came pretty close to making me emotional.

And I'm still pissed off about the Aeris thing...I found out about Aeris a long time ago, before I even bought FF7, and I've regretted it since. I must now see it for myself.

If I limit myself to FF only, the only place would be when Aeris dies. If we bring in Xenogears and Chrono Trigger I could think of some other places, like the war with Solaris in Fey's past life.

They may have claymores and Dragons, but we have Bolos and Ogres.

Oh, so that's what she was saying. I've only seen the Japanese ending. :D
Yea, it's pretty much just a big ass speech about how they've lost homes and had faded dreams and crap and then that they can rebuild their homes and make new dreams blah, blah, blah.
You actually have to hear it for it to be moving in anyway.
