Basics of this little deity-discussion.

Torm. God of knighthood and paladins and goodie-two-shoes. Currently seen as nifty because of the fact he died fighting to protect a city during a period around ten years ago when the Gods were forced into the mortal world. Was ressurected by the Big Daddy God, Lord Ao.

Sune. Goddess of beauty, love. Subcontracting sex to a minor goddess who serves her. Generally flighty, superficial, and generally romancing someone at any given point in time. Currently trying to get Torm in the sack. Her paladins tend to smite the really ugly evil fuckers.

Bane. God of Tyranny and strife. Killed(First by Mystra, THEN by Torm) during the aforementioned Gods-Down-On-Earth thing. Just revived due to long-term backup plan. Not a nice person.

Mystra. Goddess of Magic, wizards, and so on. Mortal woman who ascended to Godhood at the end of the Avatar Crisis. Powerful as hell. Every spellcaster gives at least a cursory respect to her, she's the reason they have power.
Manic Progressive: A liberal who violently swings from anger at politicos to despondency over them.

Out Of Context theatre: Ron Paul has repeatedly said he's not a racist. - Destructinator XIII on why Ron Paul isn't racist.

Important caveat

There is an alternate conduit of power to the Weave (controlled by Mystra). This is the Shadow Weave (controlled by Shar). A spellcaster uses one or the other. Shadow Weave users are very rare, but it is currently going through a surge of visibility and popularity (Shar, among others, is actively promoting it). Shar is one of the oldest gods and she is the goddess of darkness and not nice at all.

'Cozying up to' and 'chestboard' in the same sentence. Hmmm...

Character concept firming up as a defensive/indirect-styled sorceror with an obsession with flight in general. I, however, know way too little of the theme to place much else...any suggestions, thoughts, random ramblings, etcetera? Also, Rogue, you have anything written up for the house rules you mentioned, or is that forthcoming?

I can dig a Chaotic Good really easily, actually it'd fit the slowly-firming concept fairly well. I generally don't dig lawful as a rule in any case.

Any banned books in regards to character creation, and should I stop reading my copy of Shining South?

Mmmm...slight edit, think the char's gonna be obsessed with extraplanar magic. Mainly because I glanced over the spell list and remember how bloody /easy/ flight is, and that he could already very easily accomplish it at level seven.

House Rule #1. Laz does not play.

House Rule #2. Rules for cover and concealment are 3.0 standard. The 3.5 cover and concealment rules are too oversimplified.

House Rule #3. As I don't have most of my books at the moment and am running off of my Player's Handbook, Complete Divine, Complete Arcane, Shining South, the Draconomicon, and the SRD until Christmas break, I might be unsure of some things. Bear with me here.

House Rule #4. All PHB base classes are fine. Talk to me before using prestige classes. I make rulings on those on a case by case basis. I am also willing to consider the base classes presented in the Complete series of books upon request.

House Rule #5. Paladin's mounts are not summoned from another plane, but rather stay with the paladin all the time as per the 3.0 paladin's mount rules.

House Rule #6. I reserve the right to make more house rules as my ongoing reviews of material and events in the campaign warrant.

I don't ban books outright, apart from really obvious stuff such as Munchkin d20. Talk to me with regards to individual feats and prestige classes. The Shifter class from Masters of the Wild is right out.

Lazerus = bad news for any game. See the previous D&D games as well as STGOD4 for the full explanation. For the short version, he's an incompetent powergamer who whines when his powergaming schemes blow up in his face.

Bloody hell, we're going to have more magical artillery than you can shake telekinetically-powered shotgun at.

Not that that's a bad thing. :)

Hmm, becoming a Red Wizard doesn't sound too shabby...
And with all the mages, the loss of spell flexibility isn't very bad.

Yeah, but we would kill you in all likelyhood. The Paladin would not associate with you...

And it would give me a plausible reason to be with ya, i.e, the Red Wizards wish to open trade in Dambrath, and the drow are making it rather difficult...

While I'm still trying to rough out the character's personality and such, I don't forsee a chaotic-good defense-focused sorcerer being too fond of slavers :) IF there was something forcing the party together, it could make for some interesting friction, but if the party is at all voluntary...
