I think EW is one of those things where your bonuses count more than total ship size. I could be wrong, but I difured that a big ship's EW was the same as a small ship's unless it was stated, as not all ships carry heavy EW gear that's worth mentioning. Like FTL speed... I figured that was consistant regardless of size.

BTW, Starglider? I updated my OOB to emphasize the reclusiveness of the Dinosaurs, which seems to fit their utter lack from the current proceedings and jives well with some of the stuff people like about them, from what I've heard. I've also added names of the Capitol world and 10 colonies (the average '10 colonies' that you'd actually want to invade. The capitol is essentially just an office building and a set of parks).

Ok, thanks, added. I still can't understand Redleader's OOB. The per-ship points do not seem to add up to the specified total and the ship counts do not match the fleet listing. I think he's about 50 points under ignoring the fleet listings, but I'm not sure.

My oob is off because I need to adjust the fleet counts. The botom numbers need to be updated as well. Untill I return to a real PC, Only count the numbers under the units themselves.

I have a question: Tasoth, why do you think having a well defended, hidden, mobile industrial centre is something worth getting points back, when it's superior in every way to a planet?

Actually, he doesn't have an industrial center to speak of. If you read the description he provided for his Retaliation racial trait, it's clear he has no touchable industry.
Game wise, this attribute allows the Vak to gather forces to strike back. Initially, the retaliatory force can only draw from the surviving family pods located in the game setting. Since the idea behind the Vak is supposed to be that they don't need much in the way of manufacturing to get by, the manufacturing points that are garnered at the end of a game month are put into a pool, with every two hundred points representing an additional Vak family pod from elsewhere that would be able to participate in a strike against those who destroyed the family pod or to replace a lost pod. Early on, should the Vak be attacked, would mean less force could be brought to use against the attacker, but as time progresses, to represent the fact that the Vak are old and wander the stars, more pods would potentially be around Mothership Prime.
Even you managed to find and destroy the hidden, mobile motherships, you couldn't destroy their ability to "build" new ships.

The Vak are perhaps the coolest race I've seen, even without some of the cool stuff I'm sure nitram is about to shoot down.

The Vak are awesome conceptually, but so ridiculously unbalanced that I'm gonna have to go all chainsaw on that OOB.

Isn't that an unfair advantage though? Basically, what that's saying is that if you got the Vak down to 1 robot (in game) after a couple turns you'd see them pop up again, when those from "elsewhere" showed up. Anyone else see the problem here?

Oh, and Hotfoot, their industrial center is Mothership Prime, the 100pt ship/planet. Of course, it couldn't possibly produce as much as a planet...

As I understand it Tasoth effectively spent 200 points on not having an attackable industrial base and another 50 on a 'retaliation' capability I didn't really understand. The 'getting points back' stuff that appeared in this thread doesn't match what he's actually done.

I got the impression that the motherships were the source of their industry.

No it's not. Read the description. It says nothing about it being a center of industry. In fact, if you read the quote I provided above, you can clearly see it has nothing to do with making new ships.

Darkevilme: No. Someone paid a lot of points to obscure their industrial base, but it's still there. There's a HUGE difference between having a hard to destroy industry and having one that's completely untouchable.

And if you read the part about not having planets, he gave himself a 200 point rebate for not having planets.

I am thinking of also spending later points of a mobile industrial plant. How much would it cost to modify a large super battle shiip to produce smaller ships?

Savage beatings. The lack of balance to such is pretty bad.

Ah my mistake. hmm, hypothetical questions then cause i'm a curious sort. how much would production be reduced for someone with no planets, 50 points a turn, 25?, 10?. and how much would it actually cost to have no planets in reduction of that powers starting points?

No planets, you don't rebuild. No production, no infrastructure, and probably savage beatings.

See? I don't have Planets. But I have planet analogues in big planet-sized planet-munchers that take weeks/months to cross a system to another planet. You can blow those up. :)

Having no planets, yet ships appearing without some sort of obvious factory thingie seems.. sorta off.

I thought the theme was that you can have anything you like as long as you're prepared to be a sub in SirNitram's dungeon. :P

The Vak should have something like the Borg unicomplex from Voyager, but made out of giant old radio parts. That would be awesome.

That would indeed be awesome. A giant vacuum tube star-cathedral, where the wisest contemplate how to Ascend their Race to a Glorious New Future as Transistor-based Life, previously only imagined in the realm of dreamers and theologians. :)

Nobody move in between Portugal and the Straltoc, please.

My last position was ignored, and Dark Hellion moved in on top of me. I can't upload a picture from the office, so it'll have to wait eight hours or so until I get home.
