I also forgot to mention two things: One, when do I get to play a Modern Warfare game where I can use a tank or an IFV with an autocannon of some sort. Two, I'm agreeing with Sea Skimmer, JSF you're acting like a retarded fanboy for consoles: Yes, getting Kill Spree spammed at the spawn point does happen, I've ragequitted countless times because otherwise I was going to punch my XBox. The only time the multiplayer gets any better is when you get to the higher tier unlocks like the IR scope.

To be fair, while its not exactly common, miniguns can and have been mounted on Humvees:Commander 598 wrote:

What you should be wondering is how those standalone minigun turrets hold all of their ammunition in one can!
I was also disappointed that these:

Somehow I get the sense that IW brought in the "moments" that they thought were awesome but become less awesome in context, while missing the stuff that remains universally awesome... like your hypothetical Secret Service agent with SUV-rooftopped minigun.
*At the EOTech "Holographic Sight" mounted to the minigun in the first pic* Now why couldn't I have had that in the game on my miniguns (both helicopter and Humvee)!
Ironically this version of the tutorial required less suspension of disbelief than the CoD4 one did, since PFC Allen was the "show and tell" guy with SGT Foley for the indigenous soldiers, while Soap had just entered the feckin' Regiment.
Shame that when Roach didn't make the first jump, that he somehow 'magically' lost his secondary too... even a 'nominal' unaccessorized semiautomatic sidearm would have been nice and plausible! If they had needed for standing and fighting to still be an unviable option, could have just assigned a low number of magazines remaining, or "whatever you had from before the fall."
Weapon oddity note: In "Endgame" I started with my weapons from the end of the previous mission, only for them to magically disappear once I enter the boat and leaving me with a Mini-Uzi while Price gets to keep his SCAR-H. When playing the mission by itself, the starting weapons are that Mini-Uzi and the RPD.

That one threw me for a loop too, but then again I figured that this was due to GEN Shepherd supposedly wanting a "direct action" type and thus the operator under evaluation getting a good selection of possibly used weapons to train with. It showing up in one of the tunnels of the underground bunkers in D.C., not so much.1. I'm pretty sure the United States Government does not issue Desert Eagles.

If you mean the remnants of al-Asad's army, I can see that happening. I'm just glad that they don't seem to be of much use to them in-game!4. Afghan militias have a surplus of modern hi-tech battery devouring optics and the batteries to run them.
It's like freakin' Rio de Janeiro is filled with nothing but random civilians or an unspecified set of gunmen, not a cop or municipal worker to be seen even during the initial city chase. At least Zakhaev International Airport had armed security guards.5. Fuck Rio.

Yes, it is totally true, dropping your thousand dollar so hi tech it hasn't even been issued assault rifle and bringing out your DEAGLE is both faster and a better idea than reloading.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
One idea I had was a perfunctory claymore behind the container near the ladder, two at most -- one facing whoever was walking, one facing the ladder itself, plus the rooftop claymore facing the ladder of course, if only to delay/mitigate the rushes from that side and let me concentrate my field of vision on the top of the stairs.Artemas wrote:I only use the 240, as the heartbeat sensor helps alot for the guys who get close in. The claymores, for the most part, I only use as an early warning device. Once the guys going up the stairs/ladder are hosed with bullets, i hunt down the guys closest to me with the sensor. I never go to the base of the ladder, theres not enough cover. After planting a bunch of claymores near the two jeeps at the base of the stairs, consider that little eyrie your castle: never leave it.
Just replace the claymores at the top of the stairs and ladder when they blow up, and keep an eye on the heartbeat sensor for dudes sneaking up on you.
Another was to camp the stairs themselves at the container, where I would usually plant a claymore, with all other claymores in their usual positions, possibly combined with the first idea, and relying on the tighter claymore protection around my immediate area to shield me while operating the Predator... after all, I've more than once been taken out while switching to the laptop...

Honestly it's probably pretty close IRL given that both the pistol and new mags are probably under a velcro strap. Fast switching from your primary weapon to a pistol is one of those cool-guy special forces moves that seems somewhat grounded in fact. Though usually it's a 9mm or a .45 and not a goddamn deagle...Honestly it's probably pretty close IRL given that both the pistol and new mags are probably under a velcro strap. I was pretty disappointed when I discovered that the Russian ultranationalist paratroopers were armed almost exclusively with Israeli and South African guns.
I mean fuck, can these guys not spend half an hour poking around Modern Firearms and finding real-world, modern, and most importantly Russian-manufactured guns?

Agreed, for some reason it's 2016 and the Russian Armed Forces are still using the AK-47, RPD, and SVD. If the US and UK get ACR and FN SCAR I don't see why the Russkies can't at least get one of the AK-100 series, the PKM, and the SVU. Though preferably I'd like to see them equipped with AN-94, AEK-99 or the Pecheneg. And God forbid they give the Russians an actual SAW like the RPK-74M, in addition to GPMG.

All this again leads me to believe that IW came up with the weapon list after watching a Future Weapons marathon.

One thing I was wondering was what happened to Archer, the sniper who covers you in the mission you go through the estate. Do you ever actually see him in the game or does he only speak over the radio? I didn't notice him even the second time when I was playing through on veteran. He isn't with you as you go to board the chopper so he might survive? I'd regard it as certain that he survived and will come back given that people who are certainly seen to be dead pop up again, someone who was never seen to be killed must be alive...
One thing I noticed was when you meet Price Soap gives him a 1911 and says something like "I think this is yours sir". So it looks like Soap didn't see Price at any point between shooting Zakhayev with Price's pistol at the end of MW1 and Price popping up in MW2...
Also funny was how 'Soap' becomes Captain McTavish, so when Price calls him Soap the enlisted get confused Wonder what Price was called when he was lower ranking...
Apparently nobody can see you without a signature.

Yes, transitioning to the pistol is faster than reloading your rifle in certain circumstances. Certainly faster than reloading a shotgun.
What I want to know is how they put away their rifle, draw a knife, stab someone, replace the knife, and go back to their gun so fast.

I always figured they drew it with their left, slashed, then replaced it.
Though the speed it goes at would require them to draw it on their left and then sheathe it on their right. Perhaps its on some kind of rotating mount around their torso?

Frankly I find the lack of the Pecheneg a bit more excusable than Russan Paratroopers using the AK-47. As I said before I'd like to have seen one of the AK-100 rifles or the AN-94, but they should have used the AK-74M or at the least the AKS-74 (These are paratroopers after all). Re: Modern Warfare 2
The AK choice in-universe could be chalked up as a case of the MW2-era Russian military having 'switched' (or at least, equipped the invasion force infantry) to use the telescoping stock over the "old style" folding stock; from there rail mounts and synthetic hardware isn't a great leap. As for "47" over "74"... just look at all the 7.62 versus 5.56mm rage on our Internet.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I had an informative post all written up and ready to go and apparently IE hates wikia (was looking up CoDMW2 Weapons) and shittted out. Suffice to say, if it was simply a matter of caliber they could have gone with the AK-104 or at minimum one of the numerous AKMS variants, more than likely the AKMSNP for folding stock, rails, and tritium night sights.
Another gripe: Sniper Rifles. It should never EVER take more than one shot to kill someone with a shot to the chest with a Barret .50 cal or the CheyTac Intervention. A silencer is not going to make that sucking chest wound from a .50BMG or a CheyTac .408 any less than completely lethal.

The fact they have the same voice is a big giveaway to me, but theres a nice chance they could just enjoy using the voice actor, however unprofessional that is.
There is a comic book based on ghosts origins doing the rounds at the moment, but as of the first episode, he hasn't yelled out "Hey i'm gaz too!" instead revealing that he was recruited from the Special Air Service. If my memory serves me correctly, and my Xbox is currently in frankfurt so I cant load of COD4 and confirm, Ghost was one of your allies in the mile high club. [the mission, obviously ]

From wiki (since I can't read Russki)
As of 2007 the VDV is armed with following equipment.
Personnel firearms
* AK-74M, assault rifle of the Russian Army (5.45x39mm)
* AKS-74, main purpose assault rifle (AK-74 with folding skeleton buttstock) (5.45x39mm)
* AKS-74U, special purpose and self-defence assault rifle carbine (AKS-74 with shortened barrel) (5.45x39mm)
* RPK-74, light weight machinegun (5.45x39mm)
* PKM, general purpose machinegun (7.62x54mm)
* 7.62mm “Pecheneg” machinegun, currently replacing PKM as general purpose machinegun throughout the Russian Armed Forces
* Dragunov SVD, sniper rifle (7.62x54mm)
* Dragunov SVU, modified SVD in bullpup configuration and its variants are in a limited use
* GP-25 and GP-30, under-barrel 40mm grenade launchers for fragmentation and gas grenades
* AGS-17 “Plamya” (Flame), automatic grenade launcher
Guess Infinity didn't bother doing a bit of research. However, I've read that in Chechnya some of the Russians carried -47s (not the whole squad) instead of -74s, but that was in order to penetrate cover a bit better.
The handicap? You do realise that the AK-103/104 just combines some aspects of the AK-74M with the AKM design? "Differences from the AKM series include redesigned rear and front trunnions, as well as a 90 degree gas block, AK-74 style front sight block, the use of a black ribbed 30-round magazine constructed of phenolic resin (which is AKM-compatible as well), an AK-74-type muzzle brake, and black synthetic furniture with a heat shield." It shares the handicap of a short sight radius, and open sights with the AKM.Ryan Thunder wrote:Except that the AK-104 is chambered for 7.62x39mm and doesn't have the handicap of being designed sixty fucking years ago.Edward Yee wrote:The AK choice in-universe could be chalked up as a case of the MW2-era Russian military having 'switched' (or at least, equipped the invasion force infantry) to use the telescoping stock over the "old style" folding stock; from there rail mounts and synthetic hardware isn't a great leap. It really is quite moot now though... at first I thought oh great Gaz survived, but then at the end where you're lying next to his corpse, doused in petrol and set on fire I thought hmmm... perhaps he wont be back again.
Apparently nobody can see you without a signature.
