Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
Vol'jin has become incredibly popular among people who have seen the spoiler, since it shows that it's not only PCs that think Garrosh is a douchebag.
Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
I know that part, and if that was the end of it, I would join right in. My problem is that if I friend Raid Leader Ray, and one of his friends is Scumbag Sam, then Scumbag Sam can see/talk to me through the friend-of-a-friend feature, even if we have never met before.Civil War Man wrote:The RealID thing is optional. In order for people to be able to talk to you through that they have to 1) know your battle.net ID, and 2) have you approve of them adding you to that friends list.
Man, Vol'jin is making my decision to go from troll to goblin harder, maybe I should turn my druid into a troll, then my mage can still be green and mean.

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
A few giggles and laughs because of the stated thought that 10/25 will be equal, yet not.
So...we get to professions aka what top end still min/max.
First up:
New Alchemist Stone is useless. Will always been a low end trinket with keeping in the bag to make/transmute shit. Unless this thing scales or there's a high end variety, this will not change. Personally, I am fucking pissed that they didn't make a high end one for Wrath, but to be expected given the absurd laundry list of shit they have missed.
Again, I love how much useless shit they tag with the shit people really want aka only a couple times did people go "Maybe try Demon sl...wait, my weapons are better if I use this. Fuck +20/0/0 bonus proc on a single type."
And LMAO to the second. Sorry, looking at that is akin to looking at the warrior's faces when they read the rape list.
1. Doesn't fill me with much given the sheer stupidity they did in this expansion. Some were so utterly stupidly powerful that they became needed for the class. Not as small advatage, needed.
2. Minor Glyphs need more. Not MUST HAVE vs useless shit. Again, look at the builds...
3. Then balance your stats for classes. The reason Darkmoon Cards were either awesome or shit is how classes USED their stats, ie +90 Str/Agi plus a proc? It made some classes having fantastic levels of burst. Same reason that oh...Death's Verdict, Deathbringer's Will, Whisphering Skull are so fucking fantastic.
Final one? Sorry dipshits, it's either going to be Darkmoon card(Still used if you are unlucky with trinkets) or Alchemist Stone.
So...we get to professions aka what top end still min/max.
First up:
Nothing new, but it makes it easier. Funnily enough I wonder if tailoring will still be as outlandish as it is currently. And if wondering...the thread is still one of the finest procs in the fucking game.Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring
•Many of the green (and possibly some blue) items made during the process of leveling these professions will contain random stats. In most examples, two stats on these items will be set, and two will be random. The idea with these items is to mix up the skill leveling items so you're not just, for example, creating 10 pairs of boots that are all exactly the same.
•Superior-quality items that require more materials than other recipes in the same skill range provide multiple skill-ups. For example, if a recipe takes three times the reagents, it will give you three skill-ups.
•We didn't feel like we were getting much flexibility from specializations, so they have been removed for all three of these professions. The intent was to help people diversify their profession to feel different from that of other players, but through other professions we've found systems that work better to this end, such as simply making recipes available that you can earn over time.
•To follow up the previous change, all items that required a specialization are now useable by anyone.
•Tailoring the high-end Cataclysm items will center around a single cloth type that can be crafted through five different recipes -- each with their own material components and a long cooldown.
•All three professions will create their starter sets of PVP gear, which will be upgraded with new recipes every season. In general, these are meant to keep pace as an entry-level PvP set below whatever the current Hero Point set is.
Ok...75%?! Holy shit, that is fucking nuts. Now to this I wonder if he means 75% with Alchemy buff or 75% base. If he means base? Then Alchemy goes easily a few notches in min/max given that it states Flasks give one, but no class is just one stat, no matter how much Blizzard shoehorns dumb shit. Let's just say, given how much shit scales with stats, this is an interesting push. And to be honest, it's funny. The reason most high end use Flasks? Because they are better. But if you scale exilirs that high AND allows to have each, I know many of us who would make hundreds for glass nights. The fact they do not require SPECIAL HERB *1 make them a better deal.Alchemy
•New elixirs will be about 75% as strong as flasks. So you can get more total stat points with two elixirs, but flasks will still be the best at giving you a single offensive or defensive stat.
•New unique material used by nearly all high-level recipes will be created by alchemists on a one-day cooldown.
•New Mysterious Potion created with common materials restores health and mana in a massively random range, as well as sometimes granting the benefit of another potion. The health and mana range is from 1-20,000 and is able to crit. The minimum amount restored, however, is scaled upwards by the Alchemy skill, making it a great choice for alchemists to keep for themselves.
•All potions and elixirs now use the same basic vial type. Flasks still use a fancy vial.
•New Alchemist Stone.
Nothing changed, in fact giving a pet is just there to reach...I dunno the achievement?Enchanting
In general, material component costs for most recipes are more moderate in how much they require, while the highest-end recipes will still require large quantities. The goal of this change is to make the leveling recipes more consistent and not create unintended roadblocks in getting to the higher skill levels.
An enchanter vanity pet is being added.
Meh, Meh, New SUPAH ENCHANCT!!!(depending on how high and what the 500+ one looks like), and same.New Cataclysm weapon enchantment preview:
•Avalanche -- Chance to deal Nature damage on melee hit/spell hit.
•Elemental Slayer -- As expected, this enchantment helps players deal devastating damage to elemental creatures.
•Hurricane -- A stacking haste proc.
•Heartsong -- Mana regeneration through increased Spirit when chain-casting spells.
Again, I love how much useless shit they tag with the shit people really want aka only a couple times did people go "Maybe try Demon sl...wait, my weapons are better if I use this. Fuck +20/0/0 bonus proc on a single type."
Okay...to the first. Wow they remembered a complaint from...VANILLA. Dumb fucks.•Engineering is still being designed, but expect new unpredictable gadgets to use on yourself or enemies. Toys, explosives, and even a new vanity pet or two. Oh, and powerful mechanical bows and crossbows in addition to guns.
•In general, we want Engineering to remain a tradeskill mainly focused on creating fun or useful gadgets for the engineer, but we are exploring options for items that can be sold to other players for profit.
And LMAO to the second. Sorry, looking at that is akin to looking at the warrior's faces when they read the rape list.
This has to be remarked for each.Inscription
•With the large number of class changes coming with Cataclysm, many existing glyphs will see new functionality.
•Minor glyphs are woefully uneven from one class to the next right now, so they're a focus for us to clean them up and try to ensure that everyone has minor glyphs they're excited about.
•New Darkmoon Cards will be added, with hopes they'll all be as awesome as the Greatness card.
•We'll be adding more major glyphs as well, but in the hopes of making them as balanced as possible, we'll likely wait until after the expansion ships to add any for the new abilities in Cataclysm.
•New and more desirable off-hand and relic recipes will be added.

Honestly, nothing bad and in fact some interesting venues of money making. Course the random one will bring out the account whores in the droves. But that is much a user problem then purely Blizzard problem.Jewelcrafting
•Some gem colors have changed! Hit is now blue. Mastery and Dodge are yellow. Intellect is now red. These simple changes have created a much more diverse matrix of gem cuts.
•New Jewelcrafting dailies will be introduced.
•Many cuts are being added to support the new Mastery stat.
•Some new Cataclysm jewelry recipes have completely random properties, and can sometimes create superior and epic versions.
•Jewelcrafters will have some fun new (and potentially lucrative) vanity items, including fist weapons, rhinestone sunglasses, monocles, and stardust (sprinkle on players for entertainment).
...uh...I think he needs to re-read his statement and remember what Lotus were solely used for.Herbalism, Skinning, and Mining
•All Cataclysm herbs have the chance of containing Volatile Life.
•There won't be a new Lotus equivalent in Cataclysm. Alchemists will use the more reliably-found Volatile Life to create the new high level flasks.

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
I picked being an Engineer on my palli tank ages ago and have regretted pretty much from lvl 40 onward. Engineering is such a monstrously useless trade-skill, it really is what you do when your too bored to do anything useful. I eventually leveled up a Blacksmith and Jewel-crafter on my other alts just so I'd have something usefull. But aside from making bombs for additional AOE damage and the Mecho-Mount, I can't ever recall making Anything "USEFUL" ever.Ghost Rider wrote:Okay...to the first. Im sorry I forgot, there USED to be "Saronite Arrow-makers" Which was the ONE thing I could make easily and sell for a profit... And the blizz deleted those entire and replaced them with "mammoth cutters"
Thanks a lot blizz!
Oh yeah, There is also making the top end lvl 70 or lvl 80 guns... But After you have spent huge amounts of time and gold making one, they take forever to sell. Its not something you can make a profit at. Really I stifled a laugh at blizz description of engineering at "Making fun AND USEFUL" gadgets. yeah...

Jumper Cables. Oh, right, paladin.
I used Engineering as a profit-maker - the ability to extract motes from clouds let me farm primals semi-afk, just did laps of regions whenever I was waiting for a raid to start.

Uh, they didn't take saronite arrows off of engineers, buddy. Hate to break it to you...
Also, the armor webbing hand enchant is useful for pally-tanks. Sapper charges actually aren't bad for snap-aggro either.

Your thinking of Saronite "Razorheads" I think. You used to be able to make a 'box' of arrow heads that would make 10 to 15 stacks of arrows. I could sell those for 50g with 5g worth of materials.White Haven wrote:Uh, they didn't take saronite arrows off of engineers, buddy. Hate to break it to you....

Guppy's got a good point too. Very few of the miners who run the Sholazzar circuit are engineers, so even on a bad day with a shedload of people farming veins, an engineer usually has all the steam clouds he can eat.

1. Jeeves
2. MOLL-E
3. Rocket Boots enchant
4. Pyro-Rocket gloves enchant
5. Parachute cloak enchant
6. Cobalt Frag Bomb belt enchant
Because that's just the fun & useful stuff from off the top of my head that a tank may want. A repairman (and for you, bank access too) at the Lich King because the retarded designers won't let you teleport from his throne back inside ICC? Yes please. Ditto the portable mail box. As a paladin you should know just how useful rocket boots are, given we have no gap closers. Pyro-rocket gloves are great fun for pulling at 45yd ranges. And then we get to all the PvP benefits of Engineering ...
That said, I totally agree that Engineering is not a profession one usually takes in order to make a profit, and I'm dubious as to whether or not Blizz can actually make it into a profitable profession. I've got enough alts with money-making professions though, so TBH changing my main from Mining to Engineering wasn't much of a loss, and a hell of a gain from my own point of view.

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
I've looked through the announcement thread, and I am AMAZED at how many QQing little bitches there are about profession dailies.
'BOOHOOHOO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ALL JC DESIGNS WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT!' It took me five goddamn months to get all of them, and I didn't complain. Becoming the absolute best you can possibly be at your profession should be a living hell that makes you question your sanity, otherwise everyone is going to do it. They also complain its time-consuming, but if doing any JC daily takes you more than 5 minutes, you're too stupid to live.
I'm also looking forward to the new alchemist stone. At one point, blizzard was promising alchemy dailies and a new stone at the alliance hub in crystalsong, but that got scrubbed before 3.3.0, so I've been missing it. Alchemy is my favorite profession, and I look forward to doing great things with it.
That being said, the choice to scratch lotuses is... odd, to say the least.
Also, on the subject of QQ-ing bitches, check out the threads to see how many people are complaining that the mineable nodes are 'pyrite' and 'obsidian' because those are already in WoW. Don't these guys have lives?

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
It would be possible to make Engineering a profitable profession, it would take a bit of reworking, however. Make enchanting and engineering two sides of the same permanent item enhancement coin. Give enchanting all the passive improvements and engineering all on proc and "on use" improvements. If your choices for a shield enchant were a (for example) +stamina enchant or a damage absorbing bubble tinker when you use it, there would be niches for both (PvE/PvP, mainly). Do you want +fire damage on a sword, or a hilt mounted flame thrower? Lots of possibilities.
I am hoping that by adding JC style profession quests and tokens to other professions, they won't become suddenly useless after the first tier gets left behind like now (thinking mainly armor crafters).

A way of making any profession profitable is the way they made the rest such...make it nice for those raiders who spend time killing some dumbass loot whore. Engineers should be able to make bombs that do mediocre DPS, but off the GCD with a cooldown of 1-2 minutes and NOT FUCKING NEED ENGINEERING. Oh wait...the return of the old bombs? You mean the shit that sold? Golly gee whiz Blizz.
Believe me, raiders will buy such a thing. PvPers will scream butmeh, PvP needs more balancing then a mere extra 1000 damage will solve.

The single biggest thing Blizz could do to make engineering profitable, is to let OTHER people aside from engineers use certain items. Bombs? Repair Bots? Mobile mailboxes? Selling those en-mass to raiders would get engineers rich overnight,

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
While a Jeeves/MOLLE/whatever widget would sell short term, the problem is they are conveniences. For engineering and hell most trades to have viable selling is they have to have something essential.
Blacksmiths provide the Belt Buckle. Yes, one product, usually cornered...but it is better after the glow of that low level epic gets replaced by a raiding dungeon. And like JC something that is used quite frequently.
Leatherworkers, for right now have drums. Used mostly for ten mans, and even for rich people who have too much money and hate PuGs because they are doing 90% of the tanking unless said tank is a fucking 264+ Paladin...five mans. Again a resource that can be easily considered essential given make up of groups.
Alchemy...duh
Jewelcrafters...duh
Enchanters at least have scrolls now. This I personally despised of Blizzard. Literally on my server there used to 3-4 of us who had to hawk our enchants for a few hours on goddamn IF to get a nibble. It really wasn't fucking worth it, but at least we had guild backing us up. Scrolls make it possible to do something other then sitting in goddamn chat trying to socialize with fucking idiots.
Inscription faces a unique problem. They are needed but in a very limited venue. There needs to be more with +stat scrolls and things of Fort scrolls, because as it stands...you only see usage in the beginning, at new stuff and when you corner the fucking market.
Tailors...unique cloth that becomes cornered only at the end and because people want that +2 extra slots on every thing because you have to have an alt have a full guild bank worth of stuff to buy/sell.
Engineering needs something of either Tailoring(some essential knick-knack + unique product) or Alchemy type (Constantly used and needed product.). Mailboxes and repair bots are nice, but a raid will go "Ok, who's red...get repair...warlock open portal bitch.", and thus not essential. And before some dipshit goes "Bullets!"...one, they are be cycled out and two...they are only cornered at the start. At the end, you make fucking near hundreds of thousands and wonder why you still have leftovers when the next level arrives. Oh and it has to be within cheap reasonable margins of material. Unique mounts are awesome to sell...if they don't cost YOU fucking 16K gold. Thus making you profit margin very small to go "Look...it's unique.".
Thus some proposed routes?
1. Warlock style portals. No, really. While I'm sure your raid lock just loves being said hole bitch, having a limited time portal of back and forth might be nice. Problem will obviously be lag issues.
2. Bombs not on GCD that do limited damage. Why not on GCD? Because no DPSer is going to change their rotation unless said product is fucking phenomenal or they fucking suck. Hell, make it like a potion with only one per combat and people will still bring them into play.
3. Trinkets that are decent. To be honest, I despised the fact Blizzard didn't make something of the lightning generator available for all and other such bits. But a class that can make a decent trinket that isn't the Darkmoon Card? Now that would a nice high end product.
4. Injector that have a real use. They fubared a thing that had a use because of bitching but gave no compensation. If Injectors had something beyond "But you gets buff!!!"...yeah, because only certain mana users do use them and even then there is real competition for which potion.

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
The paid AH access seems to have stirred less uproar than the sparkle pony. I can't figure these people out. I don't really care, as my guild is tightly knit enough that everything we need is internally generated, so the AH is nothing but a side show of little importance (I throw junk at it, it gives me cash, I love this thing).
Is it me, or do the female worgen look like draenei wearing cat costumes?

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
The new AH thing is more or less another test to see what people will buy.
It only let's you do 200 auctions. Anyone who does large amounts of buying and selling on said primitive stock market knows that is a drop in the bucket. Hell, even people who dabble do more then that. Another factor is for every auction...you have to state your account name and autheticator. *snort*...that won't be another issue. So as a new faster, more streamlined, easier access? Mostly hype by people who do a hundred auctions a week, screaming that the sky is falling.
The flip side is as I said, it is a test. Instead of having people by a shiny horse or pet, they want to see if people are amiable to apps that affect the game that are sold under their aegis. If so, then other such will come out. If not? Nothing and they will pursue another venture.

Re: [WoW] Sell/Unsell me
The Worgen models (especially the female ones) are heavily based off of the Draenei skeleton, so there are a lot of similarities. However, it is still Alpha we're talking about, and apparently the Worgen stuff is still very early in development (apparently the Goblin starting zone is much further along than Worgen zones). I do remember seeing some animations that got leaked, and while the female Worgen model still had some of the Draenei animations, it also had several unique ones.Darmalus wrote:Is it me, or do the female worgen look like draenei wearing cat costumes?
