I'll agree with this assessment for now, even if I'm not too happy with stretching our supply lines so thin, if we're lucky relations between France and England will deteriorate in classic fashion soon enough, and then we can move in and mop up them while they're weakened, just like we did with the last few in Ireland.

Sounds like a good plan to me. We get more land and titles, the Pope is happy with us, and like he said maybe England and France will start fighting.

The supply lines will be long, but hopefully we will rapidly establish ourselves as a dominating presence very quickly.
If French and English relations do break down, we should do our best to crush the English, or if Scotland hasn't fallen by that point, to take them as another foothold in the North.

Works for me. I'm just not sure exactly how high the price tag is, but I can estimate. About 1 for every 200 troops to buy a ship, and about 1 for every sea territory they have to pass through. There are about 9 between us and the closest part of Africa. So 10 for every 200 troops, and our army is about six thousand strong. That's thirty units of 200, which gives us a grand total of ~300 gold to ship. Which means, even if we were bankrupt, it would take no more than five years to get the cash together.

At least, I think that's about it. We'll see.

Not significantly shorter. One or two ocean spaces. But yeah, I'll probably just start pounding the Muslims closest to us flat. Hopefully that way I can stop the actual Christian Spanish from expanding any further, so we can consume them at our leisure later.

There may also be events that let you pile up cash quicker than that- in my experience, that happens not-infrequently.

I am aware of a few. Honestly, I'm kinda hoping the King's wife dies- we can get a good deal of cash out of that. And marriage ties to some other power, probably our allies over in Sweden.

Agreed, let's get a hold of Northwestern Africa. If we can hold it, it'll pay off in 500 years. Once we get a foothold, I recommend moving west, once that's done, with no one to come from behind us, we can push east. That is, unless the Spaniards feel gutsy. Are they involved with anybody or are they in a good position to hit us while we're just starting?

Gyah. I just noticed Navarra is at war with our southern duchy. We could beat the shit out of them, but the big Spanish kingdom is their ally, so any expansion into Spain would be... problematic. I think I can make it work, though.

Yeah... this time period seems to have a thing against Muslims. Don't worry, EU3 makes it more equal opportunity- we get to hate the Buddhists, Shinto, Hindus, name-a-religious-group... that part of discussing these games always seems vaguely racist. Sadly, it's period accurate. Ah well. I'll have that next update up fairly soon.
