Bugsby wrote:Seriously, guys. The rhetoric I've been seeing in-game is all about the evil expansionism of the Ousters. Even saying that is metagaming. The Ousters are no more militant and evil than anyone else. They participated in several key campaigns and received many worlds as spoils of war. Their expansiveness is a direct result of their participation in taking on nations that were universally maligned, like the Arcanists and the many Laz-nations.

This new development is a tragedy on a galactic scale. The Ousters were attacked in their own territory by the largest terrorist attack in history. A perpetrator has been identified beyond a reasonable doubt. They are now attacking the responsible government - think US invading Afghanistan after 9/11.

This is all that anyone knows in-game. This is how you should be reacting.

OOC, we know that Thirdfain is a sneaky, manipulative, militant bastard. He likely planted this bomb himself and is using this to declare war and take over the galaxy. BUT WE DON'T KNOW ANY OF THIS, UNLESS HE TOLD YOU. AND HE DIDN'T. Treating the Ousters as a threat to the universe is blatant metagaming. The only way that this attitude would be slightly acceptable is if you are isolationist and afraid of anyone that might come near you. These are people like Murazor and speaker-to-trolls. And even you guys should be only wary, not outright militant. Do this right, people. Im tired of seeing "clear and present danger" rhetoric when the danger is neither clear nor present.
Well, I'm blatantly isolationist, slightly xenophobix, and light to protect what it is mine.
Given that a war seems about to be inevitable, it is only prudent to be wary and prepare for bad things happening...

I'm assuming that because B5 style Hyperspace travel (we've had this since STGOD I) is the cheapest for the freighters to use, that most freighters use it and enter via gates nearby systems. Or would I again be sadly mistaken?
My freighters, as do all my other ships, use Night's Dawn-style FTL transportation, no hyperspace for me.

Sorry for my disappearance, but my computer crashed yesterday's afternoon and I haven't been able to enter Internet until now.

Marcao, thanks for solving the part about the Veithan scanning on your own.

Medical ships are unfriendly Thridfain? And I'm paranoid? These guys are my verison of the Red Cross, which were allowed access regardless of nationality, even in WWI. I'm not sure about WWII, I know the Nazis gave them limited run, but I think the Japanese tossed them out and kept them out.

I like would point out that the Hajr seem more interested in quick retribution on anyone nearby then justice. As a real investgation would take a week or two. I may be mistaken, it's happened before but that's me.

I would also like to point out that the Slang for Hajr in the UP is voidsucker, we only call you Ouster when we want to be polite.

I need not point out the problems of waiting a "week or two" to strike. Time the enemy will spend preparing, and we know that nthing of use will be found.

As for your vessels, well, I don't know what sort of trouble your craft could cause. Spies? Bombs? All sorts of bad things couldd come from it.

Moreover, we can handle ourselves, and don't need your goddamn foreign aid, thank you very much *Arrogance is a national trait :) *

Are you saying you couldn't scan the Aide ships? The Dracs could and did in the recent little snafu.
don't need your goddamn foreign aid
Which is why you accepted it from half of known space already and offloaded my equipment.

Wow, do I need to explain myself?

We are large, rich, and powerful enough to not really need foreign aid. Letting enemy vessels into the area complicates things, and distracts our tenders and freighters from their important work over the planet itself- not to mention the annoyance of hving to dispatch intel guys to watch your people for signs of treachery.

Imagine if an Iranian freighter showed up off the coast of Flordia and called out,

"Hey, couldd you send some of your rescue copters to pick up these band aids and shit? We want to help you with your little hurricane problem."

These are useless, extraneous posts, trying to prove how nice, thoughtful, and peaceful your nations are. Well, guess what, kids? I'm not interested, and the Hajr can, in this case, cover itself with the resources it has.

Amazingly, the Hajr is able to tell little pissant powers who have repeatedly proven themselves inept to bugger off, especially when their own words suggest their medical equipment is ill-equipped for those not exposed to their people already(Recall the Lizards yammering about infection to the Etern).

Yeah, well guess what? We have FAR more of all that stuff than you do, not to mention an already fuck-all annoying ammount of traffic to deal with, WHILE providin defense cover for both the rescue fleets and Eketrina. It's a pain in the ass, and we don't want added security risks.

We ARE taking the UP stuff- they are humans, have stuff geared for humans, and we are willing to take the effort to load their gear. The Drac stuff is not worth the effort.

I think that any attempts now to make sure I "don't do anything evil" are a little bit too little, a little bit too late
