Making dilithium once you reach the special task force stuff against the borg is child's play. Each elite STF you do nets you 1100 dilithium per completed run and sometimes 2200 per run if it's a bonus day for that STF.

Do a couple of those and you routinely end the day with 10k + stored dilithium ore even after hitting the daily limit for refining. Plus there are all the dailies and DOFF missions that give dilithium.

If you tend to find yourself swimming in white duty officers? you can also dismiss them for DOFF recruitment xp/ some dilithium.

Honestly, making Dilithium is ridiculously easy, especially for a character at level fourty-four and above.

Oh wow, that's awesome. I've put a dozen white DOFFs in the exchange just so no one would buy them ;)

I've got to ask, but how many character slots do the ftplay players get normally? Cause I haven't paid a dime and I have three, yet the stuff I have read on the web says that there should only be two. (Might've helped that this account was opened maybe a year ago to play the demo and the slots just slide like anyone else's that payed during the same period.)

So I have a 21 klingon tac officer, a 24 fed science and a 1 fed engineer. I have to say that the grind in this game is ridiculously easy.

If you start as a f2p player you get two, one fed and one kdf slot. If you made more characters before f2p started they don't delete them and you can still access them. Which is rather nice, if you play AoC for free you get to only use 2 of the 8 characters you could make while paying.

The best part re: dismissing DOFFs is that the more you dismiss in a single go, the more dilithium you get per dismissal -- once I got 375 dilithium for one dismissal on top of the dilithium from the previous ones.

The Klingon method of dismissing DOFF's is even better, they occasionally get a 30 minute mission to "Execute for Incompetence" that lets you off one of your DOFF's for dilithium and I think development or recruitment points.

Yeah, I wish they would do more shuttle stuff - that was a neat set of missions. Best when done in a group, though.
I am really looking forward to going EVA as part of the next episode! I think that was confirmed.

So I've been trying out the Borg sector invasion dailies. Honestly, a great deal of fun, but we never manage to win. Is there some secret, or am I just too weak to contribute in a meaningful way?

Nah, you just need enough combined DPS to burn down the Unimatrix vessel. Also doesn't help if people don't manage to target and shoot the one-hit plasma thingies in time.

I've managed to get to the Unimatrix vessal ONCE in the various Borg Invasion missions I've done....

Every other time, we don't kill the other ships fast enough to even get to it.

And that one time We got to the Unimatrix ship? I was constantly introduced to the one hit "oh fuck shit!" plasma spread thing.

Tractor-beam repulsors affect the plasma-ball things. Sit outside one end of the Unimatrix and the instant you see a death-ball launch from that end, shove it back inside the Unimatrix ship and watch most of it vaporize in an instant.

Is there a way to transfer funds between characters? I can't seem to attach energy credits to mail for example. For dilithium all I could think of was buying cryptic points and then converting back to dilithium on another character.

Definitely. I happened to to be grouped with a Sovvie and a Galaxy (along with some crappier ships), and it took us like 4 minutes to take down a single tactical cube. We still managed to make it to the Unimatrix ship, but it thoroughly kicked our asses.

That's pretty much my experience with the Borg dailies, so I'll definitely have to try out the Tractor Beam-Repulsors idea, I've already been using the TBRs to "create space" (grappling term but still applies) if I needed to turn enough to toss a torpedo past a failed enemy shield arc and for anti-Heavy Plasma Torpedo defense (in the same vein as Beam - Fire at Will).

Overall though the Borg dailies feel like an Escort-centric DPS check, which is unfortunate.

All I know of is putting something up on the EC exchange for an 'insane' amount of EC as the character who's receiving the EC and then promptly snapping it up on the other character who's giving the EC.

You have this experience at max level still? Because I've done those a couple times, and never have there been more than 1 or 2 escorts in the team.

What works for me in an Odyssey is sitting practically still at 8 or 9 kms range, blasting with broadsides and moving just enough to get torpedos through. You still won't burn it down fast enough if the other 4 guys can't work together and agree on one shield facing to shoot at, though.

Wait, really? What kind of ability is that? I've never seen it on any of my officers.

Well, I would have had to ask the question myself, but I've been playing less than a week and I'm still trying to figure out the best load outs for my Cruiser and my Escorts respectively.

Hey, all my science officers wind up with Science Team or Polarize Hull. My ships don't usually have too many sci slots.

...which reminds me, I need to get my caitian science officer above 10 so I can start getting him XP via DOMs.

Did a STF earlier which involved what can only be described as rage inducing amounts of Borg remote-reppers. Its bad enough in Eve! :P

My sovvie doing broadsides with FaW made for pretty fireworks, though.

That'd be Infected Space, and the remote-reppers only remote-rep is your team is made of solid Failonium, so...yeah.
