Oh, I get it. You can't wait for an SE V PBW because I'm doing such a shit job administrating. Looks like someone's turn is getting thrown away next execution.

I'm that shithead. Whether I can actually do something with that advantage remains to be seen. :D

Turn 9

Executes on Thursday, November 16th at 9:00 PM PST. This one took two months of Sundays to process. I think I'll start processing them an hour before going to bed instead of right before so I'm not kept up. Two people missed again, but not the same two.

Another fun filled turn. Also, to my surprise 2 people have gotten up intel already. Hrm... I've never really done much with intel. Hopefully big lasers will make up for it :?

Oh, for fuck's sake.

Not only did my colony ships not colonise as ordered, the AI has gotten me into a war.

I can't really blame anyone (except Malfador & my PC troubles) but this is pretty annoying.

Heh heh now I have the pleasure of 8th place. Last turn I forgot/bugged out with the homeworlds and didn't make anything, so counting the last time that happened and the time I took my homeworlds off emergency build that's nine colony ships I'm behind everybody else, assuming everybody else built perfectly. I'll make it up :P. I also forgot to load some colony ships with people.

I still haven't met anyone. Maybe this is karma, I get a good spot, I make a lot of stupid mistakes. About to rope off four systems with fighters on a couple of warp points.

I always had trouble getting transports to capture planets in the strategic combat, so I figure I'll check here before I go and do anything crazy

I have a transports; I put it into a fleet, I set that fleets strats (attack and defense) to 'Capture Planet', I even set the ship's design strategy to Capture planet. Next turn, will this transport, upon attacking a planet, charge the planet and try to capture it? Or do I have to do some crazy vodoo dance?

Oh fun fact, if you order multiple colony ships to explore a system, they'll all explore in the same direction (unlike in normal play, where they're smart enough to not re-explore shit you've already seen).

That was brilliant. My little corvette fires a nuke and wipes out a colony... then thinks it'd be fun to ram into the planet.

Way to go, Captain. You'll be posthumously awarded the Medal of Idiocy.

Don't understand the question. Did you drop troops and not have any ground combat? Did you drop troops on two different planets this turn, because in non-simultaneous mode only one ground combat will execute per turn. I assumed that this was peculiar to non-simultaneous, but maybe it isn't.

Well I'm looking at the planet, and it says 'occupying troops' and shows a whole mess of my little hover tanks. However the planet isn't under my control, and I didn't get any sort of replay (I did get a replay for the planetary assault... if you'd call it that).

Weird. Don't have a solution, unfortunately. I did figure out why the turn processing was taking so long, though. Damn thing stops processing when you alt-tab away! It expects you to sit there and stare at it while it does its business.

Patch 1.17 is out. Fixes ground combat not occuring, ship takeovers never succeeding, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Thread about it. It sounds like it's worth upgrading to, but Steam users should make a backup first in case it breaks the game. Hopefully nobody's Steam game automatically upgraded already.

Well if 1.17 is out, my steam isn't updaing. Set the game to 'do not keep updated' just to be sure.

For some reason my steam keeps on defaulting to "always keep updated" whenever I start it up new. Might be because I keep shutting off my laptop in frustration whenever it crashes :P.

Let's be thankful they're releasing in large chunks. If they'd come out with 17 different patches... oh boy.

The only one who can be absolutely sure about the break saved game thing is Art.

Turn 12

Executes on Thursday, November 23th at 9:00 PM PST (won't be in town on Wednesday). Next turn will be run with the new patch, so patch up before sending (but backup the unpatched in case it borks, especially Steam users who reinstall and use an old patch). Also, let's get some more particpation, please. Fully half the players didn't submit this turn, which is quite puzzling. I thought people would be psyched about an SE V game.

EDIT: Execution time moved to Wednesday, November 22nd at 9:00 PM PST.

Speaking personally, a combination of missing my earlier turns, obsession with Civ4/MTW2, and the constant patching is sapping my interest.
