We would be glad to assist the Krytos relief vessels. Our own relief, both civilian and military, is being deployed to Imperator as we speak. Tugs are assembling a temporary food refinery in orbit, and the first comets are being towed from the system's Oort cloud for rendering into CHON rations.

Waco, Texas - North American Union

"For the last time, we are requesting that you all lay down your weapons and come out..."

"Never! We will never willingly give ourselves up to the troll-infested government of the North American Union!"

It had been going on since the news of the attacks on Imperator and the ConglomoCorp convoy, the once seemingly harmless cult had taken up arms, convinced that the end was nigh. Surrounding their compound were thousands of law enforcement and military personel. News drones flitted about recording the sight and broadcasting for all to see. The transmissions joined many others of a similar nature from tens of other worlds. It seemed that half the kooks in the universe were suddenly militant survivalist nutcases convinced the end was nigh.

Aboard the Archangel

"Things are progressing well, though some of the organisations had previously been targetted by the goverments or have failed to achieve our desired levels of intent. It has still been an overwhelming success."

"Excellent." The robed figures turned back to the viewscreens, one showed a series of reptilian figures being led out a door under heavy guard.

Fenris

The house was a bloody slaughter, the Fenari, so desperate for a cause had embraced that offered to them willingly, splitting themselves off from the greater pack. When they had tried to rise the other packs had fallen upon them with great fervour. Any seeing the bloodied fur and gore-spattered walls firsthand would have likely fainted, but to those watching over the networks is was merely intriguing.

All across the galaxy where people could access it they were seeing images of stand-offs, burning compounds or surrendering cultists with their heads hanging low. It had been a day of astounding violence, but for all that it had directly affected only the most minute percentages of the populations. The media made the events what they were...

The vessels have been deployed, along with full military escort (one cruiser and two frigates) they should reach your cluster in a few days time.

(OOC: can you make the post about the ships arriving?)

The nations not included in this brief are either considered too close allies to even think of this, or not to have the technological aptitude to perform such an attack. The one exception is the NAU which was not put on the list due to their increasingly isolationist attitude, and their unwillingness to use their military in operations not in self-defense. More information will be released soon after more information has been gathered.
I am reminded of the tale of the headless horseman. While the horseman was a creature of unknown origin attacking the villages, it was under the control of a local townswoman.

All evidence points to the existence of another power behind this. Therefore we should not rule out the possibility of any nation being connected to these attacks based on technological improbability. That being said, what was the UPK doing at the time of these attacks? They have been somewhat quiet as of late.

DEN Local news

Negotiators in on the DE homworld of Durandalia today managed to negotiate down a cult...the first in DE history.

The following is footage from the negotiation.

"This is Diplomat Sheltarin Noresst. Please come out. We mean you no harm"

"NEVER The DE is infested with trolls, the end is near. we must defend ourselves from the TROLL THREAT!"

"There are no trolls here. Trolls are a mythical...human...creation*shakes head*if you are refering to the groupp, they are not a threat. Please come out so we can talk about this like rational Fel Theth. You are all not well. we want to help you. You are not thinking clearly. it is obvious to us that the worst has happened to you. Your minds have been altered, you have been brainwashed by some hostile power. Please let us help you. "

"Will you help eradicate the troll threat?"

"We will do what we can to determne the threat of the trolls, and take action against them, yes. Now come out and let us help you. We mean you no harm."

Negotiations went on for hours, until the cultists finally surrendured, their rational minds prevailing over their brainwashing just long enough for them to be taken peacfully.

DE psychoogists are currently working on helping these people overcome their brainwashing, and return as productive members of society.

You may as well ask the Sun for an alibi. As a nation, the UPK has been responding to this as all the others have. Additionally, our agents assure us that the UPK fleets are still going about regular patrol routes- While it is possible that our agents could be fooled, it is unlikely that any large-scale fleet movements, as a preparation for invasion would include, slipped beneath our noses.

While it is possible that one of the local powers has contracted these invaders, we think it is unlikely. We believe this is some new force, never before seen. We suggest investigating the Unity.

We will keep an eye open for any of the major powers communicating with the Enemy, though. Your idea has some merit.

Perhaps you are right. Still, the UPK's unresolved stability issues are concerning. But for now we have bigger things to worry about.

The ConglomoCorp is aware that it has no official vote in the ITA, but it would like to raise its concerns regarding the attacks upon our vessels and one of our major trading partners. Action is required and swiftly. We implore the members of the ITA to pass a motion on this as soon as possible.

We cannot take action until we know whois responsible. Woud you be able to furnish any information as to the identity of the attackers?

That action MUST be taken! I don't think that some of the members understand what a blow has been struck against us in this attack. Our restaurant trade is down nearly 73%, and our convoys are all halted. If this continues for any longer then its going to be the death of us. We need control restored now! By any means neccessary.

I got my information second hand over here, and I'm supposed to be leading this damn investigation so don't blame us.

I will leave the decision of possible military action in the hands of the ITA council as soon as the enemy has been identified. I am confident they will make the right choice.

Against whom might I ask? Give me a sample sane reslution and I will support it but I can't go in there saying WE NEED IMMEADIETE ACTION AGAINST AN UNKOWN ENEMY!!!

The only physical evidence we found are from the obviously planted black-box. The rest, such as engine emissions...well...that is fully recored and available to any interested party.

Would the Conglomocorp like a seat on the ITA? It may ask for one, in which case we will second it, but until then, we would respectfully ask them to allow us to go about our business.

Steps are being taken.

The DE proposes an analysis of the FTL drive needed for such a hit and fade attack...That should narrow the field considerably

Hyperdrive would not work, because it does not work in a gravity well...Warp is not suitable... Hyperspace is te only possible way to do it...and it IS possible to phase in and out of hyperspace and not use jumpoints.

The ConglomoCorp appreciates the offer, but would prefer to remain neutral, as such allegiances threaten other contracts.

As for a sane resolution? How about some goddamn defenses on the space lanes? We've had to write more than five thousand letters to families in the past two days! Investigations are all well and good! But we NEED more security on the lanes and gates to survive!

Admiral Santiago was pissed. His entire good newly manned and technologically decent fleet of loaned UPK ships was going to be used to help the army in its mad quest to find a bunch of pirates.

Well, he thought, at least we came out well from the war. With the two new Orbital Stations over Earth and with Admiral Traendly (OOC: Yes I know his stations were brought down, but consider him as having a charecter shield that puts all others to shame) back in charge they would be well managed. And on the plus side the task to find the Black Forest was off untill this new issue was resolved.

That's what the ITASF is for, contact the Fenrai for help there, cause I surely can't help you outside of providing a couple marines.

We've downloaded that data and are analysing it.

It looks like some kind of troll propulsion system. The details are very vague.

The United Floater Republics have done nothing but assist the spread of free trade, but we would remind all ITA members that the ITASF exists to defend ITA convoys.

The Conglomocorp representative can join the ITA, and gain the protection of the ITASF, or it can defend it's own convoys, as most powers do.

They are in no position to criticize our operation.
