Plan Pavylyvych Fall 1966

Post by Simon_Jester »

Plan Pavylyvych Fall 1966

Comrades of the Baikonurek Cosmodrome! This season will be the greatest test of our technical establishment yet!

The Unmanned Planetary Science team's concerns are understood and will be mitigated as far as possible. But after consultation with the highest levels, I have elected to pursue the Mars Lightweight variant. Removal of the backup modules will proceed. I have full confidence in the quality of Zenobian engineering after the glourious successes of the Luna and Venera probes.

In the manned program, the upcoming Voskhod 2 launch is of course near the top of our thoughts. Comrades Digaditch and Borisov, the hearts of the Zenobian people go with you. Make us proud!

In other news, I am pleased to inform the staff of the small but disturbingly advanced Baikonurek Armor Plate Production Plant that their services will be in significant demand in the coming years. Any rumors to the contrary should be reported to the commissariat at once, not because they are subversive as such, but because they are signs of potentially dangerous idiocy which should be watched.

Budget: 48 megarubleoids

Hardware Procurement
12 MB to purchase two Voskhod capsules.
6 MB to purchase two A-Series rockets
8 MB to purchase two Booster Stages.
2 MB to purchase one additional Docking Module.
12 MB to purchase one Proton rocket
3 MB to purchase one Cosmos satellite

Total cost: 43 MB
Remaining budget: 5 MB

Schedule Missions
Schedule a Mercury flyby. (this is always possible, right?)
No other missions.

Mission Launch Dates
Accelerate Mars Flyby mission by one month (3 MB).
Other missions proceed at default dates.

Remaining budget: 2 MB

Mission Go/No-Go Status
We are GO for Mars flyby
We are GO for unmanned Voskhod docking test

IF Voskhod capsule reliability is restored to ~87% or higher, as it ought to be,
THEN we are GO for manned Voskhod orbital-rendevous docking mission (Duration B, EVA)

IIRC, we have the submarine captain K. FILLYERESKI in the Group III ring.

I gather female cosmonauts are not yet available, so no Surnameova or Shroomanskaya yet.

Let's see whether Digaditch avoids the Red Army by going up in flames or freezing solid.

The budget screen in Admin does show a projected budget for the next year, IIRC, though I think it can get a little bent out of shape if you reload repeatedly and get different events that alter your budget.

Also, next year's budget hinges on the outcome of this year's missions.

Natasha screamed. She couldn't take the torture anymore. They did it every night, always the same thing. Always at 1800, she was given the same thing.

Image

She couldn't take it anymore. Her glorious purple dress was now full of tears and her once beautiful pale skin was full of zits and acne. After nothing but fattening Murcan fast food, she gave in.

Agent Squirrel now had the information he needed on Boris Badenov.

Baris, Stenchia

Image

It was rebuilt. And with Murcan corporate backers, bigger and better than ever. In addition to adding electricity to the tower, and adding in several new elevators, several Murcan corporate restaurants were put at the top, to ensure that Barisians and visiting tourists could sample Murcan delicacies. Casinos and hotels were built on site to ensure that everyone could wake up and view the Baris Tower if they were going to view Baris.

Image

Nickey D's had even flown in several Murcan employees from the great state of Braska to work at the restaurants, to ensure that Stenchian-Murcan relationships would improve. All told, it was a great boon for business.

There was one problem, and that was that there was now a giant tower with a bunch of adspace that was unused. That was quickly corrected in a week.

Image

Barisians could now feel proud that the Murcan way of life had come to them.

Anyone who's reading this and whose cosmonauts are slated to die/retire, this is your chance. Likewise, anyone who has another idea for a character.

(me, I just hope we get more of those sweet randomly generated statlines; the PC cosmonauts have been better than the ordinary ones)

What, are we the ones delaying everything? Oh bollocks. I kinda worked on the assumption we didn't need a Fall 66 plan as we spent all our money in Spring. buggeration!

You did, but I need a declaration of you doing nothing at all as well, since you may want to schedule launches, move astronauts about etc.

Ok, having checked the thread, we have a Titan and a Ranger available. What can we do with those?

You can do lunar or planetary flybys. A lunar flyby improves your photo recon of the Moon by a modest amount (5% I think) and gives you some tiny amount of prestige.

Lunar recon is important during the landing, as it is a mission step rolled from your current recon level to see if you didn't land on a bunch of jagged rocks.

Planetary flybys give you 5-9 prestige depending on the planet, but nothing else, and the outer planets take a significant amount of time to arrive (2-4 seasons).

Launch windows for next season are Mercury, Venus and Saturn.

All right, schedule the Titan and the Ranger for a Lunar flyby.

INTERNAL MEMO
WHITE HOUSE STAFF ARCHIVES

It is the Presiden't opinion that this administration does not stand to gain political capital by continuing support of the space program. Recent meeting with the program director confirmed fears that it will be impossible to meet the deadline for a lunar landing set by the late president Teddy without extraordinary cost to this Nation.

Precise course of action remains to be determined.

At this rate the Onion might win by default :O
This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?
