World of Tanks Mark III

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Had my best game (7 kills) so far with Marder II on Prokhorovka. 3 survivors, one enemy tank hiding somewhere in bushes, one tank besides mine on our team. We ran out of time so it was a draw.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Don't talk to me about 7 kill draws.
Had one in my T-43 yesterday on Mountain Pass, pulled the game back from 13:9 to 13:14, getting four of those kills myself and saving the ass of the other tank alive (a Tiger, who was about to get spit roast between an IS and a T29, I killed the 29 and he managed the IS one on one).
Only trouble was we had 30 seconds left, were both at our base, and the last enemy was AFK at home.
3500 damage, 7 kills. Draw.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
So over the past week or two, I've stopped grinding tanks and quit most of the tank lines I was going up, in favor of buying back all the tanks I enjoy. My winrate has shot up from 56% to 61% immediately.
As long as you go in with the desire to learn and the ability to admit mistakes, this place is fantastic.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Wow, had a couple of spectacular games today.
Yeah, all those assists? Spotting. It seems that half the enemy force decided to take the lighthouse. Initially, I was parked in some bushes nearby, but after the first couple of tanks were killed I moved up under the rocks, lighting up all the rest of those poor bastards for friendly sniper fire. It was a massacre. At a couple points the enemy tried coming around to take me out, which was how I got two of my kills, but for the most part I just sat there spotting.
The 37,000 credits was due to that being my 5th victory of the day. Anyway, it started out looking like I was going to die a quick death, since everybody fanned out north and towards the middle of the map, with just me and an AT-1 going to the southern pass. Except we find that apparently half the enemy team decided to take the southern pass too. Some light tanks (I remember a VAE Type B was among them) moved to shore us up then, but before that happened an enemy light tank (I thought it was a Covenanter, but apparently not) decided to plow straight into the mountain in front of me. Naturally, I obliged him with a shot into his side, destroying him and giving me some cover. Then a Panzer II took a few shots at me, so I shot him, too. With the additional cover provided by the Panzer II wreckage I was basically golden, and at the end of the fracas I had 5 kills and it was just me and an enemy T-18 with a rock formation between us. I wasn't looking forward to challenging the T-18, especially since the Panzer II had managed to damage my fuel tank too. But a friendly M2 Light zipped over from our base and distracted the T-18 so that I could flank and kill him, at which point I noticed that an enemy M7 Priest had set up shot nearby. I managed to land a hit and avoid his retaliatory shot, and then I destroyed his track, allowing me to cut around him before he could reload. After I finished him off, the friendly M2 and I made a beeline for the enemy base. The M2 found and killed another SPG at the enemy base, and then we started capping. I could see on the map that an enemy medium tank and light tank were turning back towards us, but luckily reinforcements arrived and we finished the capture before they could defend.
I think this makes up for the rather spectacular losing streak I had yesterday. Seriously, 12 matches in a row with the Medium II, and a survival rate of 0%. I didn't even get any kills, so I was basically the team load for all of those matches.

You see, I wish I could do something like that with the Marder. But its easily the worst tank TD I've ever used. Not to say its a bad vehicle, I just can't get it to work for me.
PzII was my favorite German light until they released the PzI though.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Truthfully, in most areas the T18 is actually superior (better speed, more powerful gun, thicker armor) despite being a lower tier, but I like that the Marder II has a wider firing arc, which reduces hull traversing.
But yeah, it was really just good fortune that my first two kills provided me with cover, and I don't expect to ever do so well again.

The Panzer IV S is glorious. Managed to get two 2K damage matches back to back.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
Wow. I can't believe that worked. So the map was Ensk, and it was down to me in a Medium II, an LTP, and two SPGs against a T-46 and an LTP. All of us except the SPGs were capping, except our team had taken some damage earlier from a defense attempt, so the enemy team would have finished before us. But my tank had binoculars, so out of desperation I fired off a shot from across the map. Amazingly, I knocked out the tracks of the enemy LTP, resetting his 46 points and giving us the victory.

Re: World of Tanks Mark III
wargaming is creating a PR nightmare for it'self on the NA forums.
when they put up the thread asking for votes in this years golden joystick awards i'll bet they didn't expect it to be filled with people stating various reasons why they DON'T deserve it this year, the mods began removing negative posts... which kicked off a shitstorm.
the thread has been at 28-30 pages despite huge amounts of activity because the mods are deleting posts as fast as they are made, you'd think this amount of criticism would make WG reconsider their horrible PR practices.

Not very often that happens to me, but somehow, it did anyway. Pushed down the left and took out several TDs (including an SU-122-44) and a VK 30.01 P, then moved a bit further and started sniping the enemies in our cap; I took out a T1 Heavy and damaged several others, including an IS. Ended the match by soloing a stray Cromwell.

Well, I finally bought the ST-1...and I think I'm in love. Still slow, but noticeably faster than the KV-4, with a better gun and arguably better armor.

Still don't have the BL-9s or 10, just running mostly HE. 7 kill victory only me and a FV304 alive. Was enough to get an [SG] try to recruit me after the match.
But yeah I have a Pershing now, and can't wait for the baby Panther, T-43 and T-34-1.

I don't know that I have ever seen an ISU with the BL-9S, nor have I researched it myself. I just don't see the point in spending the 43k experience (or whatever it actually is, not at home to check) and slowing you down from the BL-10 when 152mm HE from the stock gun gives reliable enough damage to anything, along with the occasional absolutely hilarious full pen.
I swear that was the easiest stock grind in the game.

What a nervewracking game I had just now ...
KV-1 in Sand River, got 2 kills and we were losing, 3 against 1. I got the 2 I could see, 4 kills. My only opponent was also a KV-1, also 4 kills. Traded shots (lots of misses and ricochets) until both had under 50HP and his shot ricocheted. Bam, 5th kill + 250k for 15th victory

I wish I could get some victories right now. ST-1 is a very fun tank to play, but I'm CONSTANTLY attracting bad teams. Its getting a bit frustrating.

Still in the middle of a real up and down game. Couldn't see whatever was penning me, but it's first shot knocked out my track. Each succesive shot reset the repair counter, and the rest of the team was engaged still.
But... First engagement was an M7. I put a shot into it, so it raced through our line. It was running so hard, serpentining with it's turret facing my rear, that it fell of a hill, crashed and died. It's made my day.

The actual game score was only 1311 or so thanks to getting the courageous resistance for the Patrol Duty, but man, 1700 loss, 1100 damage, 2 kills, 8200 spotting damage.
Lose because our right flank collapsed and we got capped.
