Oh, and having the entire Unification be on the exact same plane as both the rest of the Alliance and the White Sun isn't? It's an assumption of the same nature; it's just the depth assumption that comes most easily because of the effects of looking at a 2d representation of a 3d area. That doesn't make it any less of an assumption.Stormbringer wrote:Frankly, I think that idea is a bunch of crap. Not only crap but self serving crap as well.Rogue 9 wrote:What are you talking about? This is easily solved. *Takes the largeness of Earth to mean that it is far closer to the view of the map, thus making it higher on the galactic arm than either Nashtar or the White Sun territory, and sends fleets beneath Monacoran territory, adding nothing to the journey at all.* There's no indication of depth, so as long as it's consistent I can do whatever the hell I want with the verticle positioning.

Oh, and the Asgard and PIR should be fairly close together.
It's crap because there is no indication that the largeness of a planet has anything to do with the elevation. In fact there's an indication that the greater size of Earth is due merely to it being the center of our universe.Rogue 9 wrote:Oh, and having the entire Unification be on the exact same plane as both the rest of the Alliance and the White Sun isn't? I know the size of the planet is irrelevant. I was pointing out the silliness of the whole thing. It is just as silly to assume that all nations are on the same galactic plane.Beowulf wrote:It's crap because there is no indication that the largeness of a planet has anything to do with the elevation. Untill it's properly and impartially set up I think it's far more reasonable than your "I can do whatever I want and pull whatever I need out of my ass, so neener neener neener" crap. I don't have a problem with things not being perfectly level, but I do have a problem with your self serving assumption that you can have easy access as well.Rogue 9 wrote:I know the size of the planet is irrelevant. Sure thing. I'll weight some of the die rolls (make a general roll for a group, then do minor variations with smaller dice).Stormbringer wrote:Okay, I'll be eager to see it. I hope you'll be willing to accept comments and suggests before making a final map?
Oh, and the Asgard and PIR should be fairly close together.
Basically, this is how I'm planning on doing it. Out towards the edge of the primary circle, I'll roll a D4. 1-2 is below (by the amount on the die) and 3-4 is above (by the amount on the die -2). As I go in, I use larger dice, until I get to a D20 around Monacora.
Sound good?

Sounds good.
Though I would like to point out that the United Protectorates would have a hard time being on the same plane as Nashtar and the Krytos, since I was allied with Darksider at that time, and he would have had a hard time not being noticed by our ships passing back and forth.

Except for the size difference that the jump from a D20 to a D12 would make, yeah. You have any size dice inbetween?Hotfoot wrote:Sure thing. Not really. If push comes to shove, I have random dice tags installed over at my boards, I think I can get away with having any numbers I want involved (and, in that case, I can actually use odd numbers in the middle to signify on the galactic plane level with Earth, as it were.) Plus the rolls would be there for everyone to see.Beowulf wrote:Except for the size difference that the jump from a D20 to a D12 would make, yeah. You have any size dice inbetween?

In any case, you can make a die with an even number of sides between 12 and 20.

Excuse me? They have declared their intent to attack the Alliance, and in fact are currently engaged in doing so, or haven't you been paying attention? No, I haven't. I've declared my intent to attack the White Suns Confederation. I bare the Alliance as a whole no ill will. Of course, should they interfere, I'll be forced to fight them until my objectives have been achieved.Excuse me? He's attacking a member of the alliance, not the whole thing. As is, his battle doesn't take him through Unification territory. Not a problem. But you want to attack him through Unification territory. That is a problem. Should Thirdfain try to counterattack to NAshtar, UP, Dracs, etc., Im sure he will get the same treatment.

All right, but if the Unification is merely concerned with keeping belligerent warships away from their systems, why bother with talking to Minmatar? It's Spyder's business if he feels that we really endanger him that much, but trying to talk him into it is a sign of wishes to hinder us, not protect themselves.
