A nice game of Vampire:TM?
Moderator: Thanas
Ah - thank you for clarifying regarding mages and vampires embracing them.
In that case, given the rather traumatic event losing one's Avatar would case, I'll omit him being a Mage of any sort prior to his embrace. With that alteration, does his background and basic character seem alright?
And if so, we are essentially starting as new characters from the 2nd edition system, correct?

Hehe, missed your comment. And neither. It's actually one of those minority Swiss dialects. And chwyzerdütsch is understandable, just needs a bit practice

I've sort of written myself out of what's currently happening in the game, but give it a day or so and you lot will have spent long enough talking for me to do something. I dread to think what will happen if someone gets into combat.
In the meantime, I'll tell you a little about my character.
His name is Mike Winters, though you would have to put in a slight amount of work to get his surname, since he usually only introduces himself as Mike.
He's a rather big man, though a bit of it looks suspiciously like it could be fat rather than muscle. Not especially attractive, though not ugly. Has an ever so slightly crooked nose. Generally dressed somewhat smartly, though not in expensive clothes. His manner can come across as brash, but on the other hand, when he talks to you you generally get the impression he is interested in what you are saying.
Unless I say anything then he isn't obviously armed.
Playing with the fun UGO Hero Machine I created this. It's roughly what he might look like.
You might know a little about him if:
You followed local mortal politics a little over ten years ago. In which case you might remember the name as a possible left wing candidate for Mayor. He apparently pulled out of the race for health reasons.
If you are currently heavily involved in local left wing politics or the right unions, you might have heard the name.
If you have been around for a while, and don't refuse to concern yourself with relatively unimportant vampires you might have seen him around. You might also make a connection with his Sire, a Mr. Lowe who is a Bujah of slight notoriety.
If you are a Brujah, you might find him notable in his slightly outspoken support for the Camarrila.
It is possible, if you concern yourself with the day to day running of things, that you might know of a couple of times Mike has persuaded certain left wing rags not to run stories about mysterious deaths, or other such cracks in the Masquerade. Doing so always annoys him, since he doesn't look to kindly on kindred who kill indiscriminately, but he's quite happy not to be hunted down by vampire hunters. Once it was a Sabat pack killing a fellow he knew while alive (in a slightly gruesome manner) rather than a careless hungry vampire killing a random guy. That time he was somewhat unnerved, and it might go a way towards his greater than average support for the Camarilla.
I think our Ventrue will probably consider him beneath their notice, but he does have some almost friends amongst the younger and less traditional members of that clan. He's perhaps slightly uncomfortable around Nos and the obviously mad Malkavians, though rarely impolite.
PM me, or just ask here, if there is anything specific you think you ought to know.

Kergan has dark brown hair, kept short after his Embrace. Tall and slender, he moves with grace.
Auspex: 1
Obfuscate: 1
Assamite Sorcery (Blood Path): 2
Quietus: 1
If you want a complete character sheet, I'll be working on that tonight, and can PM you when I'm finished - however, this is the shorthand version, for disciplines specifically.
Character Sheet, first draft
-------------------------------
I made this character sheet after considerable time and thought. Given that he just recently moved back to North America, he doesn't have much in the way of possessions or money yet, though he does have his books, a well-maintained cruiser motorcycle, some clothes, and a few other very useful items.
Name: Kergan Prasad
Clan: Assamite (Schism)
Generation: 8
Sire: Deviki Prasad
Embraced: 1992
Apparent Age: 26
[physical]
Str: 3
Dex: 4
Sta: 3
[mental]
Per: 3
Int: 3
Wit: 2
[social]
Cha: 2
Man: 2
App: 2
[abilities]
Talents:
alertness 1, athletics 1, brawl 3, dodge 3, empathy 1
Skills:
drive 1, firearms 2, melee 2, stealth 2, animal ken 1, survival 1
Knowledges:
computer 1, linguistics 1, occult 1, camarilla lore 1, assamite lore 1
[advantages]
Backgrounds:
Mentor 2, Generation 3
Disciplines:
Obfuscate 1, Quietus 1, Assamite Sorcery (Blood Path) 1
[virtues]
conscience 3, self-control 2, courage 4
humanity: 5
willpower: 7
====================
FREEBIE POINTS TOTAL: 5
Generation +2 (to 5): 2 points
Willpower to 10 (from 7): 3 points
====================
EXTRA: two points in Disciplines (one in-clan, one not)
Assamite Sorcery (Blood Path) to 2: 1 point
Auspex 1: 1 point
====================
There you go. The two sections at the bottom have not been entered into the top stats, so the final modified stats would be:
Generation: 5
Willpower: 10
Assamite Sorcery (Blood Path): 2
Auspex: 1
How does this look? Is there anything I missed, or that you'd like to go over first? I'd like to get all this ironed out nicely well before I start playing.
Thank you again for your time and attention.
EDIT: I can't believe I forgot Camarilla Lore and Assamite Lore. Edited to fix.

I'm already on record to what I think about 8th generation starting characters. And Willpower 10 on a starting character is cheese. Keep them if you want. You've been warned.

The reason I picked 8th generation specifically was because in the original character concept I had, I wanted this character to be the grandchilde of Al-Ashrad, he being a 6th generation. I didn't include that in the background for this character, but there you go.Imperial Overlord wrote:I'm already on record to what I think about 8th generation starting characters. As for having a Willpower of 10, honestly the main reason I got that was because of Assamite Sorcery (Thaumaturgy).
I'll revise the character, and repost.

Al-Ashrad is 5th Generation. Willpower 3 is human average. Willpower 6 is strong. Willpower 8 is massive and worthy of a powerful occultist. Willpower 9 is indomitable. NPCs with legendary willpower, who will not quit, who drive themselves forward and impossibly succeed when then should be broken physically and mentally have Willpower 9.
Willpower 10 is the highest Willpower possible. By taking it your saying your character has the strongest will concievable for a human or vampire.

The Rack is vampire slang for nightclubs, bars, and other night time social spots where the feeding is good. It is not an art gallery.

I repeat, THERE IS NO PLACE NAMED THE RACK. It is vampire slang for nightclubs, bars, etcetera where the feeding is good. It's a region, not an establishment.

I will use Vampire slang in dialogue. If you don't understand it because your less of a vamp geek than me, ask either in this thread, or PM, or AIM. That won't be held against you.
But pay attention to the answer. I dislike repeating myself.
