I did, I maxed out a Sturmpanzer II and a Wespe for the Hell of it before I got so bored I went back to light-medium tanks.

This already ignores what I already said, it was me versus a StPzII and a Su-26. I was ripping across the field at about 45km/h and he nailed be with a direct hit. I've had the same happen in a PzIII at 55km/h. Sorry, Arty is fucking ridiculous.

Man, I just tried arty to see how it plays, and you have to be fucking kidding me. If that isn't point-and-click, I don't know what would qualify. They give you a fucking birds-eye view of the entire battlefield, show exactly where you will hit (ok its a 10 meter circle, which is the same). Hell, you can see the target better than the tank that fucking detected it ... The only thing that makes it even remotely "challenging" is that you have to watch out with the shell fly time (which everybody else has to do while driving around and everything). That is totally fucking ridiculous, you could probably train a fucking monkey to use artillery effectively...

At least when I get 8 kills in my Marder 2, I know that it was me who did that. And not the game holding my hand.

I wish they would just remove all of the auto-aiming. It makes hitting moving targets and hitting targets while moving yourself way too easy. Then takeaway the birds-eye view of the battlefield for artillery and just blow up the minimap to a full-size map (non-zoomable) for artillery and I would be happier.

Actually, auto-aiming seems fine, at least without elite crews. You don't hit strafing targets all that well with it.
But yes, artillery seems a bit extreme by now. I am no good shot, but i can imagine what someone could do with it. Then again, at least it gives scouting some punch.

The T-44 is also one of the sexiest looking tanks in game in my opinion.

Since we're on the subject of whether something is important at all. The vehicle commander gives a bonus to all crewmember's equal to 1/10 of his proficiency, the gunner makes your shot grouping tighter and allows for a quicker zeroing. I noticed no change in reload speed when I paid the 20k to train my loader up to 75%. So does the loader, radioman, and driver's skill proficiency matter at all?

Absolutely. I noticed a huge difference on my Wespe and Grille. Torturous reload times became merely agonizing.

Driver skill definitely matters too. Good drivers are a hell of a lot more responsive, with better acceleration and less penalties.

Radios are harder to test, but I don't see any reason to doubt there being a difference between 50% and 100%. Presumably a 500m radio only works to 250m (+ other tank's radio) at 50%.

A well-driven T-44, IMHO, is the best tank in the game.

It needs/rumorhasitit'sgonnaget a nerf very soon, it's bullshit that a high velocity 75mm KwK 42 can't penetrate it from the front at point blank. The devs nationality is showing a bit much.

Also, I heard that arty was going to get changed very soon as well.

I would agree that it's a ridiculously good tank...in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. It probably needs a bit of an armor nerf, but to be honest it's not very good unless the person driving it knows how to drive it. Far too many people try and dance with heavy tanks in it, alone and unsupported, and most importantly, not maneuvering with it. They're the guys who stick the 122mm on it because it's MOAR BIGGER. The closest I'll do to that is, if the game is weighted very heavily towards super big tanks, is become a dedicated artillery killer. The IS-4 on defense will eventually kill me, yes, but I will get your SPGs before I go down, and our token P3 or A-20 can do the actual scouting in the meantime.

I honestly think the IS-7 is a much better tank in a lot of ways-it's crazy fast for a super tank, for one thing. But I'll admit the T-44 is much easier to *get*.

No mercy for the wicked :D

That was a nice match though, actually got some XP and credits with my Hetzer for once.

Also, the stats seem a bit weird, supposedly my new cannon only has 8mm more penetration, but I'm getting through most stuff while before I was hopeless against any heavy tanks.

Ah, got it. I will join it tomorrow, since i will spend the rest of the evening watching some Doctor Who while i wrap up some discussions. And waiting for my medium tank that i will buy tomorrow :D. Which will then hopefully be replaced with a heavy tank - i am now better with light tanks, but i still need some firepower - i am just not happy without it.

Oh, and another complaint about artillery, which i have begun playing as well:
They can be much too strong up close. They are way to precise with direct fire, and a single shot blows up most tanks. Sure, you've got a terrible turn rate - but since you got god-vision anyway, it's often easy to plan ahead and blow up anyone charging you.
In some matches, i actually get more kills that way than from using the artillery mode.

I just had the best match ever... I was the heaviest tank on my team in my fully upgraded PzIV with the 75mm L70 gun and the other team had a pair of KV-3and three arties to out lone arty. But I told my scouts not toscout of the arty, I told them to scout for me. See, Following Schat's advice I got a cammo net for my tank (-25% to the chance of the enemy spotting you when you're still) and told the arety guy to stick to counter-battery fire.

I hug back at out base in a big stand of trees and bushes and waited. Didn't wait long...

Gunner, tank 2 o'clock 400m, AP, SHOOT! A PzIII died.

Next was a Luchs that thought his speed would save him.

Gunner, tank 3 o clock 250mm, AP, SHOOT! Luchs crumpled like god just hit it with his dick.

Then came the pain...

Two KV-3 down the middle. So I backed my tank down the teee line and let them come into our CAP. Told the arty to silence his gun as well and told my TD guys to stand by for my order to fire.

Two volley'd one KV-3 from 150m with a double 75mm broad side to his engine compartment, he blew up good if the fuel tank fire was any indication. My two TD and my one arty saw this as the sign I promised and they leveled that second KV-3. Two 105mm guns and a 150mm shell from that Hetzer hit that last Soviet tank like Uncle Joe had shoved his communist rod right in that poor tanker's ear.

Then I sawmy opposite acrocc the field, a lone PzIV. I told my team to stand back, this one was mine.

He tried to go for the ram pinon me but didn't under stand I was parked next to a fucking rock. I revered the engines ad laughed as he rammed a rock at full speed breaking both his treds at once, he wasn't going anywhere.. THen I put a 75mm shell into his turret, breaking it's ability yo turn. Manueverd behind him and placed a 75mm High Exposive shell into the weak rear armor and his tank exploded.

Then I contented my self a for a bit raping the light tanks their lone arty guy had sent to find me.
PzIIs burn nicely. The Ausf A driver crested hille right into my barrel and died hoorible got it.

then I hunted down their lone Arty guy, the last man standing for their team,a hummel. Pinned him to a tree and fired two shoots and he died.

SEVEN KILLS ONE MATCH!
