The answer to Sword Whoring is upthread some.

Dual Needlers.

As long as you spot them, you can put enough needles in someone to cause an inevitable fatal explosion either before, or soon after, they've Sworded you.

They'll give up if they have to die for every kill.

Bah, the sword makes the game interesting, it makes it possible for one skilled enough player to surge out of nowhere and get an underdog victory even if he's behind. I overcame a 12-kill deficit to win a battle in Midship last week.

BOOYAH!

And yeah Dual Needlers...peronally I use a combo because Sword is nice inclose and can still use grenades while a nice long range weapon for those people running like rabid gerbils.

The people bitching about the sword sound like people who bitch about the rocket launcher being cheesy...the sword certainly does have weaknesses that give it more balance, they're just harder to figure out and overcome. If you're at the top of an incline and a sword-wielder is at the bottom, you have a significant advantage over him. Also, the sword takes quite a bit of time to switch to from another weapon. There's also the fact that you can't do ANY damage with the weapon outside of the short-range radius.

Dealing with sword users is simplistically easy- just backpedal at pull speed while firing at them- they won't be able to close the distance and you'll take them out easily. If they're hiding behind corners, or something like that, use grenades to flush them out (or take another route).
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Yeah the sword is powerful, I wish they gave it a limit like in the single player but it really isn't that much of a problem. Jumping high helps and just keep your distance and you'll do fine.

And the dual weapons, your combo is really good. Lays them out fairly quickly. And, I do like having two Magnums, although they seem to run out very quickly. But I think the best is plasma rifle and SMG. Rips through the shields and hits the tender flesh.

I can take the sword out of someone's hands if I want too, so I don't care if that's all they use. Mainly because I play with a guy in which that's all he uses. So I get lots of practice.

I was talking today about Halo 3. My take is that when we see a 'NextBox' hit shelves is when we see Halo 3. Possibly larger, more indepth. Another notion was that sometime in Feb, or whenever the next E3 is, Bungie comes out and says Halo 3 hits shelves in June or July, or maybe in time for the holliday season. That's just a few specs on my end.

The one thing I wish they'd change about the sword is to either give it an ammo limit or at the very least make it so you can't do the lunge in mid-jump. It's just plain wonky to be able to rocket forward like that in mid-air.

Edit: Would it be possible to figure out the most efficient placement for the rings, considering that the Milky Way is about 100,000 ly across, and each ring has a range of 25,000 ly?
http://nikon.bungie.org/misc/pd.halodata.html

The most efficient according to H.B.O. is placed 25kly from the Galactic Center, the Halos will cover everything with some overlap. Roughly, they make a Septagon...
[The 7ruth is out there]

And eyeballing it, even if 04 is destroyed that gives us about a 1/3rd chance of still being in an overlap zone, assuming Humanity isn't able to mobilize a ton of people and technology thousands of lightyears laterally because of impeding doom.
Considering that the Halos can communicate pretty much instantly across light years, they might also fire almost instantly, so it'd be hard to pull off.

Bungie probably turned it off so that the Wraith isn't unstoppable- imagine Flood trying to board you with a pair of Plasma GPMG taped onto the hood...

Speaking of Wraiths, is the Wraith Boost even similar to other Boosts? AFAICT, it looks like you can still fire weapons, and you're still boardable while doing it.
[Trick- I think boosting, even into a wall will prevent boarding if you're in tight quarters in the ghost. Useful for if you miss a Brute with a boost run and have to avoid getting kicked out of the saddle.]
