Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
When the Mudd Market opened the exchange rate for dil to Zen immediately rocketed up to the max of 500, only dropping back some when a much-needed Phoenix Event started, but it's still approximately 470:1. Great for selling, if not you're SOL. The market also made available the T6 Command Assault Cruiser for the first time, which pissed off those who'd been hoarding the WizKids models for the past three years by rendering them worthless, but that was just a bonus!
The player base is up in arms about the base price of the stuff in the marketplace, even disregarding Mudd's status as a con man (in both TOS and Discovery). I can't imagine anyone prepared to pay full price for any of it.

I might be interested in the dinosaur with lasers on its head, but not at 8000 zen even if it comes with an ultimate tech upgrade. Maybe when my 500 zen per month eventually adds up to 8000 zen I might get it.

So April 2021 then? After looking up the details I eventually stumped up the Zen for the TOS bridge crew (sans Kirk) based on the space stats for a couple of them. Finding the room for any of them is going to be the hard part, I'm already struggling to fit in the Elachi BOFF as it is, especially for characters that have built up greater numbers of unique officers. I'm going to only buy extra slots as an absolute last resort- they downgraded the account-wide Elite Starter Pack into the character-only Elite Services Starter Pack, thus removing the only account-wide way of getting more BOFFS for each character.

Most probably even longer. Next month I will get more than 3000 zen and I plan to purchase a tier 6 raider for my Klingon toon.EnterpriseSovereign wrote: ↑2019-12-05 03:28pm So April 2021 then? Grabbed the Leeta hologram while it was discounted, not that I actually have room for it at the moment but regardless. Double XP this weekend so I'm cycling my characters through Argala to pick up some more masteries. At least by mastering different ships I can change things up.

Does anyone know if reaching level 10 in 3 campaigns as a gamma recruit opens up the extra admiralty slot for all toons. Initially it didn't even open the extra slot for my gamma recruit, until I quit and loaded the game again. It doesn't appear to open the extra slot for my other toons.

Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
From my experience, Admiralty slots function like the R&D ones, they're individual to each character instead of being account-wide, much of my daily play involves cycling through characters and kicking off assignments. Gotta keep those plates spinning after all!
They've been rotating in and out of discount the stuff in the Mudd store, 85% off. I grabbed the Leeta and EMH BOFFs while they were discounted, there's nothing else in there I want.
Not touching the Picard bundle, even discounted the Miradorn raider isn't worth 6,000 Zen. Maybe if the other half of the Privateer Weapon Modifications Set in the form of the ship was thrown in as well (or hell, even instead) I'd be interested, but not as is.

Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
Only comment I have (haven't played in over a year now, probably longer, last gasp I had was when they brought out the Jem'Hadar as a playable race) is that I noticed they're apparently bringing out a Klingon/Federation hybrid ship.

They've added a holographic Geordi La Forge BOFF at a discounted price, and a pack that unlocks the Reman and Breen BOFFS (among other things) account-wide so newer characters can claim them. I'm definitely going to have make some tough calls now.

Out of idle curiosity: is that OG TNG La Forge or STO Admiral La Forge? Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
Decided to get some of those crystal prisms while its discounted. I got lots of dilithium, and I have enough phoenix upgrades that I don't need to spend more, so may as well convert some to zen. Lets see how useful they are, but I see lots of players use them. Also the universal upgrade tech that comes with it can't hurt. Spent around 300 + K for the extra Zen.
FortunatelyI am going to be able to easily replace all those lost dilithium anyway. My klingon toon has like 700 K + unrefined dilithium. Half of that will be automatically refined while I am travelling Europe.

It's the one from Descent, its screwed-up aesthetics meant to reflect the nature of Lore's Borg faction. I hate asymmetrical ships like that, the Lethean pilot escort has the same problem. Which is a shame as the ship stats look really good.mr friendly guy wrote: ↑2020-01-25 06:56pm https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star- ... l/11354863

The anniversary event is coming up which will offer the chance to craft Omega upgrades, last year I made about a hundred. Most of my space gear has been upgraded to XIV gold long ago, it's ground stuff that is in need of some more attention.mr friendly guy wrote: ↑2020-01-25 07:18pm Decided to get some of those crystal prisms while its discounted. This is why I always spread my dilithium among all my toons instead of concentrating on one or two; for the current event I'm running the TFO on whichever character has the least quantity of ore, I have to use a small spreadsheet to keep track of it all. Thanks in part to the 25,000/day for the event each character now has about 50,000 ore, normally it's in the 20-30k range.
That auto-refine on LTS only refines up to a week's worth in your absence, so you might want to take a laptop or something on your travels and log in when you can or you'll be disappointed when you get back!

Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
I try to do that, but it gets a bit grindy. So far I have around 3 with dilithium ore that needs refining, but it will soon be two.EnterpriseSovereign wrote: ↑2020-01-26 01:23pm

Jesus. I don't have a laptop anymore. Gave my old one to my mum and now I travel with a tablet. Its lighter, and does what I need, ie check mail, browse the internet and reading e-books, and most importantly, stores all my photos into folders based on location. Guess I will only have 56,000 extra dilithium. Sigh. That auto-refine on LTS only refines up to a week's worth in your absence, so you might want to take a laptop or something on your travels and log in when you can or you'll be disappointed when you get back!
Another note, decided to get the dinosaur with lasers on its head. Used the dilithium from my two Jem'hadar gold farmers so didn't feel so bad.

So they bring back TOS aliens, including Yarnek. We go on another simulation to see the nature of good and evil. This one has good prospects for replay as I am curious what woudl happen if I made different choices, rather than the one I thought the game wanted me to do.

From what I've gathered playing the mission with my KDF tac char the end result is mostly the same with slightly different dialogue.mr friendly guy wrote: ↑2020-01-28 08:09pm So they bring back TOS aliens, including Yarnek. Also Klingons (Or KDF characters haven't played on my orions yet) and Romulan (or romulan faction) characters also get slightly different lines.

I'm glad I watched the second season of Discovery before I played this episode otherwise this would have spoiled the hell out of it, and meant I perfectly understood what was going on. It also confirmed the similarities between Control and Borg, something lampshaded by Seven herself.

Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
New Phoenix event & upgrade weekend taking place right now, so once again I bought a single job lot of packs with my poorest character so I have upgrades to play about with, and had the rest put in offers for 1,000 Zen each on the dil exchange, expending about a third of my total supply. I had to consolidate a couple of times because you can only have 5 open at a time for a max of 5,000 Zen each.
Depending how long the Phoenix event goes on for the price will drop further so I get the best rate before it shoots up once again with new content. I'm holding on to the other two-thirds of my supply in case it falls further, hedging my bets so to speak. If I'm successful I'll be able to afford what's coming up in the next few weeks. There's this, most expensive thing in terms of Zen that I've ever seen. The Standard and Premium bundles cost 30,000 and 45,000 Zen, respectively.
To summarise, the Standard bundle has the following:
20+ Ship Costumes, Including One New, Exclusive Costume for Each Ship
All of the Ships' Consoles and Traits
10 Ship Slots (Once Per Account)
The Premium Bundle has all of the above plus:
10 Master Keys (Once Per Account)
10 Infinity Research and Development Packs (Once Per Account)
10 Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrades (Once Per Account)
10 Phoenix Prize Packs (Once Per Account)
100 Lobi (Once Per Account)
1 Epic Phoenix Prize Pack Token (Once Per Account)
10,000 Dilithium Ore (Once Per Account)
Exclusive Title: Legend of the Quadrants
To me, the additional stuff is mostly junk that isn't worth the extra 15,000 Zen. If there's an event ship you missed the epic Phoenix Token is nice, if there isn't then it's worthless, and I can't see a title being worth shelling out that much.

30% Lobi store sale this weekend, I won't quite have enough Lobi for two ships unless I get lucky with my last few keys. One will probably be the Astika because of its trait (Supremacy) working well with Withering Barrage, as for the other I'm not sure yet.

I am just going to put it out there. For those who have seen the new Picard series, the Romulans have their equivalent of the Bene Gesseritt. STO needs to have Romulan Bene Gesserrit player characters, so I can have a Romulan tactical toon. Just saying.
