My suggestion, scrap the reactive armor, just have seal regenerative armor, remove the explosives and fill it with more armor.

Additionally, any c-fractional shell hitting a vessel is going to not only blast a massive hole in the armor, it will also be causing intense internal shocks, crumpling bulkheads and damaging equipment. Merely sealing up the hole will not repair the massive internal damage a full kinetic round causes.

I'm cackling. There's a difference.

Especially when you see what I've got planned.

I probably should but remembe like begets like our modern defenses are designed to stop our own weapons should somone come allong with diffrent weapons our defences might not be good at stoping them. So as a result of this progression Atlantian ships are defended against the weapons they know plasmoid dpu rounds which can melt throgh hulls if it is not pushed away from the ships. later on in the game i will probably have the Atlantians change their armor to adapt to new weapons, I dont think it seems fair to keep going back to my oob and saying whoops i dont like this better change it and suddenly the problem is fixed I know i'm probably screwing myself but i'm trying to be fair.
All I want is a kind word, a warm bed, and unlimited power.

Now that I think about it, they wouldn't be able to plant a virus on any of our computers without working knowledge of how our computers work.

Yep. The Overseer has working knowledge of your verbal languages, nothing else. Of course, this works more in it's favour. You dirty organics can't infect it with viruses. No. That would be bad. BAD bad BAD bAd BAAAAAAD....

Probably. It doesn't want to take chances. It was forced into a multi-mileenia hibernation by a virus once; it never wants that again. It might not get turned back on.

I guess we'll have to settle for good, old fashion, EMP missiles, lots of them; perhaps even loaded onto FTL torpedoes; deliver them nice and close where they can do the most damage :)

We could always find a way to upset those fancy anti-matter reactors you have there; though right now EMP would most likely work well enough.

Or we could just blast the living hell out of him with superiour firepower and numbers if and when we find him...

So what do I get in return for being vunerable to something as cheap and easily reproducable as EMP?

For the record, a shielded vessel would absorb the EMP as easily as it would absorb a kinetic or heat or coherent light blast, and his vessels are themselves no more vulnerable to EMP than ours are. In fact, they might be less so- After all, he can spend all that space we waste on food stores and life support on EMP hardening.

It's clearly a brainbug, folks.

Seconded. We have superior numbers and firepower. That's enough. This attempting to become immune to his attacks and use some sort of weakness against him is getting us nowhere, and it's more trouble than it's worth.

I think with every power in known space gunning for him the need for superweapons isn't that great. Railguns/energy weapons/missles in such large scale should be able to take him down.

True enough, but considering the DS9 tech level and scale of his warships, he would need some pretty hefty equipment to keep the amounts of anti-matter he'd have to be carrying "safe", he's not using dinky little 500 meter star trek ships.
SirNitram wrote:Overseer Dreadnought's are massive undertakings, spanning three miles long and bristling with a dozen heavy railguns, over three hundred defensive gatling lasers mated to extremely accurate point defense programs, and four massive Fusion cannons mounted on turrets that are larger than most frigates. It carries nearly twenty-thousand thermonuclear warheads onboard with one purpose: The complete annihilation of all life on a planet's surface.

Battleships are equally monstrous, though half the size, and packing much less of an armanent. With ten turreted heavy railguns and around sixty defensive emplacements, she's ideally suited for taking on other large warships, and superior for facing a missile-happy foe. A single axial Fusion Cannon marks the ship's spine, allowing for an absolutely devastating first strike.
The size of those ships, he'd need some pretty hefy anti-matter reactors and storage for the antimatter itself. Otherwise I would consider his ship somewhat similar to a Borg ship, it would need space to allow repair robots to go around and make repairs on the inside.

-shrug- Once a vessel's shields are down, it's generally just to the left of fucked, anyways (except for purpose-built shieldless craft like Rogue9's, which we can assume have truly ridiculous ammounts of armor and internal bracing.) Let's not press this EMP issue, while they will still be a useful (but no more so than, say, nukes against organic troops) weapon against the Machines, they won't be shockingly effective against his heavily shielded and EMP-hardened vessels. Let me add that with his ships mounting railguns as their primary armament, they will already be VERY heavily EMP hardened, simply to protect his equipment from his own weapon's magnetic fields.

You can't expect to not get mauled by everyone in the known galaxy when your objective is to kill all the organics, which, according to the most recent census, is everyone else.

Look, he's talking about all the superweapon bullshit going around. Let's drop it. Frankly, I think he would be able to notice any major attempts we made to retrofit all our fleets, and would be able to come up with countermeasures (and sidewall countermeasures are EASY.) Let's play the game and drop the crap.

WRONG! You see, if ID4 has taught us anything at all, we know that all super alien computers use Macs. SO we just infect you with a mac based virus and then it is we who will laugh our asses off!!!!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!!111oneone!!!!!!111shiftplusone!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!11!
