Well, despite some server trouble, I thought this might have been the best session yet.
Here is the chat log.
I really enjoyed the character development. For the first time, we got to see M6's schizofrenic-like behavior, how he switches to a warm, human tone when necessary and then right back to a robotic monotone and calling people "meatbag"
We also got to see Xak do something other than sensory implantation.
We got to see a glimmer of Ernesto's human side, and we also got to see that, while we all prefer it when CorSec's there, Heath is more than good enough to play Jack in his absence, just as CorSec played Ernesto beautifully.
Everyone gets 40 XP to distribute. My 1 hour of play = 10 XP rule called for 35 XP, but I thought it was a great session, so I felt generous

We were all rusty. None of us had played for 3 weeks. You didn't stick out to me as being rustier than anyone else.Marcao wrote:great game you guys! I am sorry I was a little rusty, but I will get better. ^_~

Character sheets have been uploaded with the new available XP. I will double-check amount of XP spent before next session to make sure it's all square.

Double-checked the XP. Xak and Jack had the right amount, M6 had about 15 too many points, as did Ernesto.
Uploaded the new ones with the right values. I was surprised they weren't more out of whack, actually.
On an unrelated note, I noticed a problem that now bugs me. Cybered out people are supposed to be good, but you wouldn't expect M6 to be better at Security than Jack simply because he has higher dexterity than Jack. While security does require a steady hand, it would seem that training should matter much more than natural ken.
A possible solution occured to me as I remembered "complexity" for skills from the Silhouette game. I don't care much for their implementation, but the concept is solid. For an increasingly complex task, the skill level should play a bigger part in determining Attribute than the corresponding stat.
Perhaps the following would be workable: For a task tagged "complex", then Attribute = stat + (2 x skill), or even (3 x skill) in some cases. The difficulty for an opposed roll would be opponent's stat + (2 or 3 x his skill), or just normal DF x 1.5 or 2 for a passive roll.
Because Jack should really be better at disabling an alarm system (for instance) than M6.

I should be able to get this cleaned up tonight, or possibly tomorrow. Soon, anyway.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:Well, despite some server trouble, I thought this might have been the best session yet.

That was really the original concept all-along, but I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to pull it off in a chat-room setting or not. Turns out I can.I really enjoyed the character development. For the first time, we got to see M6's schizofrenic-like behavior, how he switches to a warm, human tone when necessary and then right back to a robotic monotone and calling people "meatbag"
Oh, you're just saying that.We got to see a glimmer of Ernesto's human side, and we also got to see that, while we all prefer it when CorSec's there, Heath is more than good enough to play Jack in his absence, just as CorSec played Ernesto beautifully.
Well, as you predicted, Jack was rather indisposed, but I tried to channel him the best I could. It seems I did a passable job, if the man himself gives me the thumbs up.CorSec wrote:Goddamn, it was like I was there. Creepy.
Hmm, wonder how that happened. Actually, I'm not surprised. My math skills have degenerated to the point where even simple multiplication is touch and go.Art wrote:M6 had about 15 too many points
Sounds interesting, and makes sense. We'll have to see how it works in practice.Perhaps the following would be workable: For a task tagged "complex", then Attribute = stat + (2 x skill), or even (3 x skill) in some cases. The difficulty for an opposed roll would be opponent's stat + (2 or 3 x his skill), or just normal DF x 1.5 or 2 for a passive roll.
One last thing: that game was fucking awesome. That was the most fun I've had RPing in a while. Can't wait to do it again this weekend. Speaking of which, how does Saturday afternoon (1-ish) sound?

Updated the Big Books with the complex skill rule. Hopefully that will pan out (I don't see why it wouldn't, the idea is simple and the consequences easy to see).

Game is set for tomorrow (Sat. the 11th) from 1 to 4 PM. Subject to revision if it conflicts with someone's schedule. This time the server will be Mature Concepts, the one we ended up playing on last time.

Sorry I'm not there yet. Having technical difficulties. They made it a real bitch to install OpenRPG onto a Mac. Anyone had to install onto a Mac?

Well, Sunday's session, in my view, was not nearly as good as the one we had before it. It wasn't bad, I especially enjoyed having all 4 players on board, but I didn't have my campaign notes handy, and my mind was focused on something else at the time.
I realize that I still haven't uploaded the new character sheets or the chat log. I'll do that today or tomorrow.
As for the next session, we should wait until the weekend after this coming one (the 25th or 26th). That way we can have all 4 people again.

Ack, had to pull this up from the 2nd page.
One, sorry about the character sheets and chat log not being posted. Usually it's Art's responsibility, but it was mine this time since he was using my laptop to run the last game. So I dropped the ball. I will get that shit on the site when I get home from work today.
There is no number two.
Three, is everyone up for a game this weekend? I'm thinking Saturday afternoonish, but we could also do Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon is doable, but I have pseudo-plans for Sunday. As always, Art is busy Sunday evening.

Ok, got the character sheets uploaded. You can get them from the usual place.
The chat log has also been posted (in it's raw, uncut form), and you can grab that right here.
I have the day off tomorrow, so hopefully I can find the time to clean up that log and the one from the week before.
