The prince was exhausted, and trying to sleep in the transport as they crossed the Pan-Slavic Rebuplic under escort. His comm had been beeping for a good part of a minute, and he was finally getting around to answering it.

"No sir, we don't know who yet."

It has become clear that the Floaters will not leave us in peace. Recently the engaged in the murder of nearly a hundred of my citizens. This not tolerable and we have reacted. Never again will such monsters murder our citizens from behind the olive branch of peace.

This action is targeted at the Floater, no one else. So should you chose to intervene it is on your head.

We acted in response to what we can only characterize as an attack on the very people of the Asgard Empire. It was our desire to have peace yet it seems we will not be allowed that. We tried to the greatest extent to reconcile our differences with our former allies. It appears that for all the progress we have made with other nations, it was not to be with the Floaters.

It is to our regret that this tradgic sequence of events has occurred.

The fleets of Krytos formed up, and moved to the boarders to assume defensive positions.

At the imperial palace, to say things were hectic would be a severe understatement.

"Challan, send a message to the Admiralty, the Asgard could be massing for an attack as we speak, i wand the first and second battlegroups prepped for counter-offensive operations, and deploy the first through twenty fifth ground divisions to the outer colonies."

In OU space, taskforces were forming up, reading themselves. Fleet trains were assembled into convoys, with significant amounts of warships protecting them.

If you so wish, we are willing to defend your populace. As the Asgard will probably make a first strike, unless yor planets are heavily defended like ours is, you may want to bring as many people as you can to Durandalia and her surrounding moons. Our fleet of ships(numbering well over 700) and defense grid stands by to defend you to the last Theth.

Floaters, with your permission we will transfer your entire Mohaim Cluster and the clusterswithin our territory, under the defense of our grid. We wil do so through hyperspace, and can get you heare in a few days.

I realize that this is placing all our assets in one spot, but I am pretty sure the ships of the NBA outnumber and outgun us. This may be our only hoe at saving our peeople from the horror of nuclear fire.

The previously deactivated Defense Grid came on line, lights blinking, The guns test firing to make sure they are in working order. The defense grid surrounded Durandalia and her three moons. One layer of densly packed sats arond the planet, and one layer around eache moon. with a less dense layer around the entire planetary system....making them nearly impregnable.

The city shields where charged, and set to go on at the first energy spike of weapons fire.

Around the system jupmoints formed as hundreds of ships poured into the DE home system. They may tke the offensive, but they would be there to defend the homeworld.

The Planetary Laser/ Particle beam cannons came on line, as the Giant railguns were loaded, and the missile launchers loaded with fresh magazines.

And the people prepared for the worst, going underground, in shielded and rienforced bunkers, they said goodby to their loved ones as they armed themselves for war.

Lights went off in the cities and the energy was dumped into defense systems, as the point defense and anti-fighter weapons on the rooftops where manned and brought online.

FTL Inhibitors were brought online

The DE was a mildy paranoid culture, but it served them well...those that attack the homeworld will pay a heavy price.

Target practice:
Like every sane power, the Skaven had sought warp missile technology soon after their debut in battle. Although there were at present no ships capable of carrying the massive missiles that were ultimately developed, launchers still were available. Some were fitted to converted freighters, reclassified as auxiliary cruisers. Others were given small crews and scattered to drift in the system as defensive batteries. These were now being tested. One by one, the missile launchers shot missiles at distant targets. Target drones reported on accuracy as each missile arrived.

Battery 1 is on target
Battery 2 is on target
Battery 3 is on target
Battery 4 is on target
battery 5 is on target...

The crowded busy space port was so busy being one of the few free trade areas in the whole of space that was not under threat of terrorist attack, the wide halls, and Fenari designed vaulting cielings (Fenari are 2.5 to 3.1 meter's tall on average.), it was still crammed, no one at first noticed the man fall, nor did anyone know at the time that they were living on barrowed time. Soon hundreds of Fenari and humans working the station would be comming in "Sick" and most of them would die, the millions of passengers that thravled that day would be giving rise to new misery.

Across Monacora ground defense stations were brought to full pull power, the Hunnten line, the modern day version of the Maginot line without any gaps in the line, was brought to full prepardness. They had learnt from past mistakes and instead had made the line a fall back point, leaving all the combat to be done infront of the fortifications.

The freecasts rang across the void, propagating instantly across hyperspace- messages calling out to old allies, bringing in friends, calling for the assistance of all those who had bound themselves to Mohaim.

The calls were answered. The Outworld Alliance, the Pan Slavic Republic, the Soirhyetz congolomerate, and the New Roman Empire all answered the calls within hours.

On Mohaim, representatives from the mililtaries of the the four powers met, and talked- joint strategies were laid out. The fleets had learned to work together, in the years of alliance. Now, those alliances would be called into play.
