That could've been from the stage lights or the ambient room temperature.

Maybe they put it in the oven just to give it that "freshly mauled" temperature.

Ahh yes I'm 12 because I didn't react with shock and horror to a dead animal that was bought from a butcher, I bow down to your superior intellect.

You don't seriously think I, or anyone else in their right mind, would actually eat goat, do you? It's a shit meat.

Ford, as usual, wins the thread.

Personally, I'm a little mixed. I have absolutely no objections to the content in and of itself (quite the opposite in fact), but this is hardly what the gaming community needs right now. All it really amounts to is more ammunition for the asstwits who cry about some correlation between real-life violence and video games (beyond the fact that those prone to real-life violence anyway tend to play violent video games).

You're twelve because you refer to people who didn't care for this stunt as "pussies".

Do you really fail to understand that people can not give a shit about the dead goat and comment on the party as a stupid, ill-conceived stunt, or are you trying - really poorly - to do a tough guy schtick?

Because it'd be nice to know if you actually have anythign of substance to say, or if you're just waving around your e-penis.

Even I think it was a bad move, and I would pay money to be able to go to that launch party.

I understand that some people don't like the party, why else would I have commented on it. I find it incredibly ironic that you are pulling me up on having anything of interest to say when your last 3 posts have been nothing but useless blabbering because you are offended.

Pot, meet kettle.

You win the argument on the internets, congratulations. Will you stop blabbering about useless crap now? The internets is serious business, christ.

Um, yes they are:
Dictionary.com wrote: Mature:

My point was aimed towards the parents that wouldn't take their kids to see an 18 rated movie, but for some reason ignore the big "18" rating and the package art depicting a guy slaughtering enemies on a computer game they're buying for their child because in their mind "games = for kids". I was expressing hope that this press conference, stupid thought it is, might actually be able to get the fact that there are mature video games out there that are not meant for kids into their heads. True, chances are it wont, but I can still hope.

Sex and violence is not for kids, this game is not for kids.
Oh, I won't disagree there at all. But "not for kids" != mature. This joke of a launch party won't convince anyone that games need to be taken seriously as entertainment for adults, as 2000AD liked to think.
I never said anything about games needing to be taken seriously as entertainment for adults, but given that the average age of a gamer is 33 with 69% being over 18 it's not exactly that hard a position to defend. Obviously a lot of adults do find them entertaining.

Do you realize what forum you're on? The "rofl internets serus bsns" meme might be adequate enough to get the MySpace crowd chortling and nodding in unquestioning agreement with the a priori premise that all internet bickering is an unflattering waste of time, but this website is not only acclimated to pitched dialogue on differing viewpoints, but it also encourages it.

You want to stay around here? Leave your bag of cliches about how people who endure more than three turns of argument on a forum aren't getting laid or going outside enough back on the kiddie forums.

Are you normally this much of an imbecile, or is it your typical response to call anyone who finds pointless gore to be in bad taste and a terrible PR move "pussies"? Perhaps you're one of those wankers that thinks games are automatically better just because they put in more violence from the sound of your response.

Ah. I read your post as saying that this press conference would make the general public take videogames seriously as an art form. My mistake.
I never said anything about games needing to be taken seriously as entertainment for adults, but given that the average age of a gamer is 33 with 69% being over 18 it's not exactly that hard a position to defend. Obviously a lot of adults do find them entertaining.

Look. My point was that there really is no intelligent discussion to be had over something so stupid as "Hey don't call me names!". If you don't like being called such an apparently terrible insult I don't care, it really has nothing to do with the topic at hand. What I actually said in my post was that you were being oversensitive to the death of a damn goat. Have you played the first game? The game itself is far far worse than that party could possibly have been. I can't believe people get so worked up over a damn goat that is warm most likely from the warm food they put it in and/or exaggerated by the media, it would never be something as simple as that right? Instead of whining on and on why don't you and bounty actually talk about the topic this thread is about, or something related to it? Instead of derailing the thread into yet another shitflinging match over being called oversensitive. Like, I dunno is this the market sony is aiming at now? Like Hollywood? It won't be good for the undustry's reputation for violence, but it doesn't mean the game won't be some mindless fun. Might have something to do with them trying to reclaim their former glory of being the "fun" company (the ps2 era), or just the last throws of a desperate company to promote one of it's few remaining titles.

This PR stunt seems like a pretty smart move. I think they knew or at least guessed that something like this would stir up a lot of controversy and if they´d get lucky even be reported in news articles and discussed on internet forums and web blogs. People are not going to not buy the game because of this and now even more people know about the game. I mean part of the marketing strategy of such games relies on controversy. Much like Eminem. And it seems to work quite well. So i believe this helps selling the game.
On the other side i also doubt that this is going to hurt the image of Sony itself (as opposed to the game). I mean are people really going to care that much about this when thinking of Sony? I think the 600€ they´ll have to shell out for a PS3 dwarfs the concern they might have about a strange PR stunt. They just send out an "earnest" apology making it look like the higher ups didn´t really know what some unimportant lower guy was doing and the matter is resolved.

P.S.: The choice of actor for Kratos seems like the only bad thing PR wise. I mean, the in game Kratos looks like he´s seen a gym from the inside a couple of times while this actor is more like a deskjocky.
