Will Wheaton played Wesley Crusher on Star Trek The Next Generation. :P
I'm just going to say two words.

No. Shit.

SimEarth was cool, but I found it both too complex and too simple at the same time. I modern (ie, decent UI) version would rule.

And EVO, on Nintendo! That was actually a game about evolution, though it got it 'wrong' for the sake of gameplay, you played from the age of fish to the age of man.

The niche crowd is pretty much anyone who ever played a sim____ game and liked it. It seems to take a fair bit from all of them, especially the older ones like -earth & -life. Add in a theoretically easy to use UI, and a goal of open ended customization...

And well, it does sound like a better time killer than anything else I have at the moment.

EVO was cool. Anyone else just take a bird-lizard-dinosaur-thing all the way to the end? Flight wins above all else.

The biggest gyp was mermaid, though. Didn't you lose that when you had to go back onto land?

(Edited...well, because I actually used the term "ftw" before I realised it. Eyeuch.)

Yeah, you lose the Mermaid when you come onto land. I also think it's the only female form in the game--the rest are all male. You had to lose it anyway, Gaia doesn't swing that way, so she wants you to be a fully evolved male partner for her.

It was mostly just a minigame area anyway, for fun! I liked the game a lot, but it got the evolution a bit backwards, it was nice to see SOME bits were right though. Like the plants making air, so now critters can start moving to land, and so on and so forth. Like, 90 percent game, 10 percent learning!

People just like to make giant monsters at eat shit. I always thought that a Dinosaur game would be great. Not like Jurassic Park, but a game where I'm basically just a dinosaur, and I go eat things. I'm not sure what it'd be... but I know it'd be fun!

BBC made a Big Al Game, not much but you eat and grow bigger. I agree there is a lack of games where you play AS a dinosaur.

The Genesis version of the Jurassic Park videogame let you play as a velociraptor. It wasn't very good, though.

Obviously there wasn't much obvious to the joke (honestly, how's calling "Will Wright" "Will Wheadon" supposed to be a joke: there's no connection). I thought you genuinely made a mistake in identification.

But oh well, you got me.
