Exactly and Beckett didn't want you to open the thing because he must have guessed that Jack had put a bomb in it.
So what the fuck happened on that ship?

Also, which clan did you think was the funnest to play as? For me it was the female Malk, mostly for the dialogue and not isignificantly her wardrobe.

Yeah, the thing about the ship crew disappearing and all the blood on the coffin is odd. BUT if you think about it Jack killed them all and was bloody when he opened the sarcophagus to switch out the contents.

The game's multiple endings really are great.

Well this is weird. Decided to reinstall it to see if it worked and it did. Didn't even patch it, same set up as I had last tiome I tried to get it to work, but now it's working.

Just about to go to the museum and get the sarchophagus for the prince dude.

And the ship pissed me off no end. I tried and tried to sneak past all the cops to get to the sarcophogus to check it out, kept on getting spotted, kept on making a bloodbath. And then when messing with the bridge computer I found that all I had to do was turn on the cameras.

Seconded.

It's the second time I'm playing the game (first was around the release, few years back) and I chose a Malkavian character this time, because everyone was raving about how fun the dialogue is. So true. You really haven't played V:TM Bloodlines, until you've tried a Malk. My encounters with various NPCs have included some of the funniest moments I've ever seen in a game.

Bloodlines is easily one of the most underrated CRPGs out there, such a shame that Troika went out of the business. I think the reason why they left ending purposefully vague is that the game's events are considered canon. It's in fact a prequel to their final expansion pack to the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, Time of Judgment, which includes various scenarios about unfolding Gehenna for players to use.

Does anyone have a problem with their mouse and keyboard when playing the game? I get periods where it 'lags' (for want of a better word) and I'm stuck doing my last keyboard input for a few seconds (running forward for example), it's a pain in the ass, especially in combat.

Had that with a friend's computer. The fanmade patch solved it.

Thisa game just doesn't want me to play it.
I've just finished the Order of Leopald bit, rescued the professor, but during the loading screen after I get into the boat to escape it crashes me to desktop. No error message, no warning, just crashes me to desktop once the loading bar gets to full.

Have you patched it? That's a known bug in the game as shipped.

Just downloaded the patch now. Are save games compatible or do I have to start a new game?

IIRC (it's been a long time since I've played this), so long as you haven't entered the stage that has the glitch yet, the saves are compatible, but you're SOL if you're already there (as the affected script loads at the start of the stage).

I've heard that you can salvage the game if you don't have any saves from before that area by enabling the console, then inputting the following in-game:

Code: Select all

SaveJohansen()
changelevel2 la_hub_1 taxi_landmark
The above assumes you're not a Noseferatu, and jumps you straight to the next area of the game (but sometimes glitches and strips you of your items; if this happens, reload and try again). I've never tried this myself, though, so I don't know how effective this is.

Tsk tsk tsk- always patch a game up to its latest version (in V:TM's case - 3.7 - not 1.2) before starting play. :P

... so? If you don't SAY that how is anyone supposed to KNOW that? When you say 'I did this easy thing yay me', I can't intuit all the extra information, you have to type it in.

Does Vista have overall worse support for older games? SS2 isn't that old, it's not a DOS game, so this would surprise me.

so far: MoO2 (won't work), Diablo1 (does not support), Alpha Centarai (does not support), Fallout1 (does not support), etc

basically anything released before 2001 it's iffy.
