That's because all the improvised weapons are specifically scripted like that. Once used, they are flagged as such by the game and thus are no longer innocuous when held in the open, same as any other dedicated weapon.Ford Prefect wrote:Comparitively, I've experienced a couple of workers noticing the blood on my hammer (from a botched disarm attempt) and freaking out.

If you really want to make it work, replace the prop pistol with the real one, then sneak up to the light room, and shoot the ambassador in the head when he gets on stage. Then calmly walk away. Alternatively, just shoot the tenor yourself while up in the light room, and keep the WWI pistol.

Even better is to drop the light fixture on the ambassador while he weeps over the tenor's body.

But then you've got collateral damage. Doesn't matter too much, but it's kinda nice to only kill the targets.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:Even better is to drop the light fixture on the ambassador while he weeps over the tenor's body.

You don't kill anyone but the targets with that. Unless you completely botch the timing.Beowulf wrote:But then you've got collateral damage. You kill some guards as well, if you drop the chandelier when he trips. You still manage a silent assassin rating, it just isn't as philosophically clean.weemadando wrote:You don't kill anyone but the targets with that. Playing Contracts here; and I'm giggling insanely as I go "Mass Murderer" through the levels.
Usually my Missions go like this:
*Lone guy walks around a corner, is shot by 47 in the head with a silenced silverballer*
*clothes change, and body dragged out of the way*
*proceeds to walk through the map with disguse, and silenced silverballer in his hand; counting on the disguise to gain some time*
Eventually, the disguise is no longer enough, and out come Akimbo Silverballers, since you might as well make as much noise as possible.

There is something fun about that. I recently tooled up the M4 you get in Blood Money, with AP rounds and barrel mags, and murdered everyone on a paddle steamer. Two hundred passengers and crew? No problem.MKSheppard wrote:Playing Contracts here; and I'm giggling insanely as I go "Mass Murderer" through the levels.

I did something similar in A Murder of Crows. Fully upgraded Ballers, Sniper Rifle, MP5 and M4. I also acquired every weapon on the level. All of it was spent on civilians, even setting off two mines in dense crowds. Finally after there was no more ammo left in the map I executed some people with the kitchen knife before throwing it into someones face.Ford Prefect wrote:There is something fun about that. Final count? 72. Apparently tit-anxious teens don't count as people.

Ah. I thought he meant he somehow managed to select two rifles before the mission, which I'd really like to be able to do.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:You can find a shitty sniper rifle with no case (the Kazo TRG) in Raymond's pad in that mission.

Finished Contracts; final overall rating: HATCHET MAN.
The Triad missions in Hong Kong were shit fun.
*walks into building across street from triad meeting, climb to top floor, find guy in triad colors aiming across the street; shoot him and his minder in head with silenced silverballer; take our your own WA2000 and shoot the red triad leader, framing the Blue triad for it.*
Or when you had to kill the triad ambassador and his three thugs in the restaurant.
My solution?
*climbs onto catwalk, pops a guy in the head with silenced silverballer, takes his clothes, goes inside, and takes a buttload of AK-74s, then goes outside and begins gunning down people with the Kalashnikov*

Using the fiber rope is just too damn hard. Same with the syringe. So I never used them. Just Silenced silverballers.

I've never found a need - when I need to do a mission stealthily, all I'll ever need will be the WA2000 and my ballers, and those only for convenience. If I want action, my fully-upgraded shotgun makes meat pasties of anyone I want, anytime, and with backup from the SMG and my 'ballers, it's all easy street.Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Ah. That's a real pity - I found that the syringes, sedative or poison, were exceptionally useful.MKSheppard wrote:Using the fiber rope is just too damn hard. Same with the syringe. So I never used them. Just Silenced silverballers.
A fully upgraded WA2000 with AP rounds is fucking awesome. With the Silverballers, I only tended to take one when I was getting stealthy, reserving dual action for when I'm loaded up with long slides.I've never found a need - when I need to do a mission stealthily, all I'll ever need will be the WA2000 and my ballers, and those only for convenience.

Horrible. Nasty. Hilarious.
Bah. You want a single baller with a silencer, AP rounds and laser sight. No extended mags or autofire or anything like that. Just a nice, pure assassins weapon. With the ability to kill through a door if necessary.A fully upgraded WA2000 with AP rounds is fucking awesome. You have to be in the EXACT right place and do it exactly right; or else the target screams and runs away. They need to make it so that if you're behind a target, and have a garrote out; and you push the button, you automatically strangle the target. None of this "be in right place at right time"Ford Prefect wrote:That's a real pity - I found that the syringes, sedative or poison, were exceptionally useful.

Uh... in blood money you do strangle people exactly like that. You have to be behind them, then, left click, and blam, he's dead. Might take a little while, but it works. Similarly the syringes. The sedative is especially useful for taking out people for disguises.

Blood Money is MY GOD. AWESOME.
Too bad the Post Processing effects work great in 3rd person mode, but when you try to do it in first person view, they become too bright! Arrrrgh!
I love how in the opera mission there were 11 witnesses, and I shot down 28 cops with pistols in broad daylight, and then gunned down Secret Service Agents with a M-4, the police somehow make a big strapping bald guy into a long haired goth
