Nah, you'll be one of the butts in a Bongo-Bongo-style minigame.

Okay first of all fuck you. Secondly it should be a 3rd person shooter. And finally I don't even know why a dating game would be worth mentioning.

Well in any case Felineki needs to be still in it.\

At this point in the thread there'd be a 100% chance he'd pop in to remind us that sex is gross and low-brow, and that he's not interested in it so therefore nobody should be.

Also, late to the party, Pwnage. Maybe if Zod had called out 'permanent noobs' you'd have noticed sooner? :P

If you had bothered looking at the poll you'd already know the answer to this.

"Hard on" would be a more accurate term.

Did you know they're not robots?

Better show us an image macro, Felineki; I'm sure we've forgotten since the last time it's been shown.

I miss that moron. He'd be so easy to reproduce in an SD.net game since he'd only communicate through automatic responses to certain keywords.

You know that reminds me of the video game the main character played in Megazone 23 III. It was called HARD ON and was a space shooter in the vein of Star Blade and Star Fox. Clearly this needs to be part of a SDN game.

That's covered by the category "action/adventure game."

Because dating sims are very popular in Japan. (Sorry about the incorrect terminology.)
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

It would be a fighting game, except all the moves would be insults, like the fencing in Monkey Island.

Dating sims are usually a subgenre of the visual novel genre, afaik.

It should be a risk-type game. Except that when you try to capture a territory, the game selects a minigame based on who's fighting. So it might be an RTS, an FPS, or a dating sim.

Head to head dating sim. Hmm...

I'm thinking an Empire at War/Homeworld strategy game would be the best idea, partly because I couldn't imagine a better way to describe the board culture than being aggressive and "not taking prisoners". While debating is the basis for this site, I can't see how you could make a game about SD.net without including starships, so a portion of the game should be devoted to real-time space battles. Leave the debating aspect for characters or something. In addition to the space-battles, planetary invasion should definitely be a feature and that should play like World In Conflict.

The biggest problem I see in doing a Homeworld style game would be handling an economy, or teching, if at all. The maps, or map, should be huge if we're talking about two interstellar factions. There will need to be multiple planets! And granted, managing that all by yourself might be too much.

Realistically a Galactiv Civ 2 mod could fit all of my ideas in nicely, but some things are so much better in real time damnit!

No wait, the Galaxy is a metaphor for the internet. Our Tech tree is a itemized break down of calcs that give bonuses when we invade other forums. And other forums get things like "Net nanny Defense" or "Horde of Spacebattlers" Planets represent the individual subforums of a board, and a board must be conquered via sending debaters who can defeat the present debaters in combat!

It's already been done, sorta. SD.net, SB.com, and a few other places are in the games "Final Flamewar: Attack of the Trolls" and the sequel/third game in the series "Final Flamewar: The Fiver Menace". The second one, "Final Flamewar: The Troll Wars" apparently was never completed.
I can't download the first game. Any help?
