Right click on one of the flags, that should bring up a much better list.atg wrote:How is one able to play as on of the nations that the scenarios don't have in the list? eg I want to play as Hungary, which the '36 scenario doesn't have in the country selection list.
I remember seeing somewhere that you need to mod a txt file but I have been unsuccessful in finding which one, googling has brought no results.
Hearts of Iron II, tips anyone?

They'll still have loads of shit leaders with no experience, that's what you're exploiting, even normal stacks will be oversized and taking huge penalties. (you don't attack doomstacks, you encircle them, crush their organisation with bombers, and then mop them up.)InnocentBystander wrote:Doesn't the purge modifier go away if you attack the soviets?
If you want mods, there's a bunch out there that are pretty good.
Stony Road is pretty good so long as you're playing against Germany and want a challenge (i.e. 300 German divisions by 1940)
Mod33 is pretty neat. Starts in 1933, has reworked tech tree, and god knows how many new events. The only problem is, it's Spanish, and the translation's barely comprehensible.
Kasierreich is the best alternate history mod out there (What if Germany won WW1), with enough interesting nations to play (communist Britain, broken up Russia, civil war US, even Canada). Of course, Germany's virtually pointless to play.
And if you get bored of really easy conquests, play a game as like Germany, conquer over half the world, then switch over to a country like the US and see if you can turn the tide.

Since the thread is about HOI 2 tips I could use some here
Well in HOI 2 doomsday I am plaring as Germany and got myself stuck in the
Iberian peninsula trying to destroy the 50 division strong Gibraltar garrison with 80 something divisions but keep failing horribly. Whats worse is the fact that the British keep landing troops behind my back. Ive tried bombing them with 8 CAS squadrons and 16 Tactical bomber squadrons but they havent been able to attack long enough to seriously dent their organization levels. I also sent the entire Kreigsmarine consisting of 3 carriers, 4 battleships, 3 battle cruisers and various escorts to keep the Royal Navy from sending reinforcements which has worked in doing that. Ive also tried bombing convoys which has isolated Africa from Britain but has not achieved much else. I guess I will try using 10 mountain divisions to force them out.

Tiger II fanboy
Use your submarines to kill Gibraltar convoys, and build a lot more CAS (12 worked in my case for super-stacks, you may need more - but pay attention to your air commander, or you'll get horrible penalties). Tactical Bombers suck for air support in my experience, so use CAS to pound their ORG. WIthout convoys, they shouldn't be able to resupply.darthkommandant wrote:Since the thread is about HOI 2 tips I could use some here

Also, make sure your stack is commanded by a field marshall, has an HQ, is supplied for an offensive and attacks from multiple directions. Make sure the CAS aircraft attack only in daylight, and that you have battleships near the shore to provide shore bombardment.
If you do everything right, it should kill the Brits.
Mountain divisions will probably help, too.

You know what? We need a draka-fic mod for this. Complete with events like the Rape of Rome and the Night of the Superforts. Put that on the back burner of things for the Drakafic people to do. I'd offer to help if I had modding experiance or even a copy of HoI.

Considering this game, and Paradox's other games, I don't think you need to mod it.Vehrec wrote:You know what? We need a draka-fic mod for this. I mean, these are games where small nations like The Republic of Texas and The Kingdom of Jerusalem can not only survive, but THRIVE. I'd think that almost anything is possible.

There's already a Draka mod. It's not finished and likely never will be, but you can basically replicate Drakafic by playing as America and crushing the Draka. Hell, it's not hard. This is a game where Poland can conquer Germany starting from 1938 (if you're good).Vehrec wrote:You know what? We need a draka-fic mod for this.
