I think that looks pretty sweet. While I enjoy the Prime series, I greatly prefer the 2D Metroid games. Heck I bought a gameboy player for my gamecube just so I could play Zero Mission and Fusion on a screen that doesn't suck. (It really is amazing how much detail is in a gameboy game that you otherwise don't see on an actual gameboy screen.) So a 2Dish style Wii Metroid game being made by Team Ninja sounds awesome to me. This looks exactly like what a newer console Metroid game should have been in the first place.

Honestly, I think this is probably a good move for Metroid, given how arcadey they are. Though I enjoyed the Prime games, they seemed a little strange. Metroid Prime was one of the most immersive games I had played at the time. Samus would look at her feet when she was coming down from a jump, there were all the visor effects like fogging and reflections, if you had X-ray vision on you could see her hand movements which triggered weapons changes etc. But this immersion was paired with stuff which was so obviously 'gamey', like a huge number of the puzzles. It was a little strange.

Looking up while it was raining and seeing the rain drops hitting the visor was fucking AWESOME the first time I saw it. And the way the visor slightly distorted everything, was totally rad. I played it in a dark room at night, with the only light coming from the TV, and I got claustrophobia.

Although it's been stated that Metroid's control scheme works fine (by Yatzhee no less), I'm usually aprehensive of 3D action games without a mouse driven interface. Still, playing Metroid is, in my eyes, a reason to get the Wii, and this game might be another reason to add to the list.

Yeah, but I already have Prime 3. I hear Primes 1 and 2 are pretty good, but I'm on game rations at the moment. :)

Well think of it in this way: They finally remake of MP1&2 for the Wii. Oh, and as an added bonus you get an extra copy of MP3 for free.
