That's what you're putting in your complaint emails to LucasArts and Aspry, right?

The thing is if everyone took that attitude there would be no complaints and you're not telling me Alyeska is the only one that is unhappy.

However, at the other side I fear that your comment about faceless corporation will be correct. They'll probably sell sufficient amounts on the console that they can ignore the PC version.

That's why you complaint bomb the company until they respond.

It worked with Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition. We got two patches (and a page of "bonus content") out of internet complaints...

I waited a whole year for it to come out on PC and found out the port was complete trash. So I decided to drop by Best Buy and buy the XBOX version for 20 bucks. My honest assessment: disappointing. The force powers was fun (Force lightning must be my most used power) but there's something wrong about having to slash at a stormtrooper 3 times with my lightsaber before he dies. It felt like I was wielding a sword, not a lightsaber. The DMM physics impressive but they didn't take the time to make the lightsaber dismember my enemies. In that respect, Jedi Knight 2 was better.

Personally, I can forgive the really dumb things about the game like the arcadey-ness of fighting TIE Fighters that move slower than my car, or the wankiness of a Sith apprentice force pulling down an Imperial Star Destroyer, or even the way I can take down an AT-ST by repetitively doing lightsaber combos mid-air "Street Fighter" style. But the most disappointing component of the game I felt was the story. IT SUCKED. Rebel leaders held hostage in the Death Star?? The Alliance insignia forged from a carved symbol found in Kashyyyk?? What the hell? Are the writers that creatively bankrupt that they had to re-use the same damn locales (With exception the shipyard levels; they were a nice change of creative scenery)? Oh, and why did Starkiller use a red lightsaber in-game while he had a blue lightsaber in the cutscenes? They couldn't take the time to change the color for you mid-game to maintain consistency rather than forcing you to custom change your lightsaber color?

The good news is I'm glad I got it for 20 bucks. I would have felt really awful if I had paid the full 60 dollars when it first came out.

I checked my system and discovered my motherboard (ECS K7S5A) maxes out at 1 Gig ram, so I guess I'd need a whole new system to play this game anyway... oh well. This thing can't play anything newer than Doom3 (and that with some difficulty) right now.

Agreed about the dismemberment thing. I've watched enough videos that I can see what the gameplay is like. Apart from the force manipulation and brand license, this looks like a pretty run of the mill 3rd person action game. Reminds me somewhat of "Spider-Man" the video game (without the wall climbing).

The graphics may be prettier than JA and the Force stuff cooler, but otherwise I think I'll stick with that game for Jedi action. The lack of multiplayer is also an extreme disappointment.

Plus JA and JK have tons of mods. You can add weapons, stuff, maps etc yourself. Dont like how the E-11 does piddly damage ? You can edit it yourself.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I can't apply the patch.

It finds my game and I can run the game but... why the hell does a 400 megabyte patch need more than five gigs of free space?

It might be copying some files it's amending and then deleting the originals afterwards.

I figured it out.

It's not unpacking files. It's making backups of unpatched files in the temp folder so it can make a rollback in case anything goes wrong, like there not being enough disk space because its making backup files of every file patched in case something goes wrong.

What the hell were they thinking?

They probably were trying to prevent the inconvenience of having to re-install the whole thing if something does go wrong. Really, don't see what's so surprising about this, given the ludicrous size games have these days.

If something goes wrong with the patching, it will probably also mess up the patching backups, leaving you with a broken install and a pile of useless files. :)

What is wrong is that the patch would practically need 20 gigabytes, the whole game. Couldn't they just backup one file, patch it and then see if it the patched file is as it is supposed to be?

Here I am, desperately trying to make space on my small system hard drive so the patch could be done, only to read that it is making practically useless files. I deleted the backup files as they appeared and the game patched fine.
Gameplay is more smooth now.

A good program (which is shareware) that lets you fix broken installs is "Your Installer 2008." I used it to fix a stupid crash in the middle of my last JA install. Great program.

It's too bad games don't have a built in recovery like that (and it doesn't take up gigs of memory).

I just discovered my motherboard doesn't support above 1 gig of ram, so I guess I won't be getting this game for awhile.
