It's not that their service is shitty per se. Their coverage just isn't as great as it could be. I'd imagine in places with a much higher population density it's a different story but as long as I can get a good signal I've never been dropped.Mr Bean wrote:Translation:I don't use my phone to make phone calls therefor it's not a problem that AT&T's phone service is so shitty.General Zod wrote:
I've never experienced dropped calls but I've had plenty of problems getting a good signal in my apartment (very annoying). Fortunately I don't actually talk on the phone much so it's a minor issue for me.

My mistake. It also appears that Cincinnati Bell in the US, Vidéotron, Mobilicity (both in Canada), and a couple of provider's in Chile also use the same band.Pu-239 wrote:Minor quibble- Wind Mobile in Canada uses the same 3g spectrum.TimothyC wrote:It's all GSM, only T-Mobile uses a weird 3G data band that no one else on Earth uses. The voice band is the same for GSM globally, and that lets you get 2G data (which you don't use). I strongly recommend against Verizon, after they tried to renew the contract for my dead grandmother - after getting a certified copy of the death certificate.

Root + custom firmware (CFW) = Touchwiz is irrelevant.Pu-239 wrote:*Shrug* I just kinda hate my sister's vibrant software-wise - Touchwiz is the worst thing ever. I guess one's mileage may vary.
The article about a forced switch to AT&T phones... unfortunate for the customer, but not so bad depending on when this is mandated, as the article seems to imply that it could take long enough that "as long as you got in before the buyout, you can just make the upgrade when your contract would normally have been up, as normal pre-buyout anyway." Anyone else know if that's the case?

It'll probably take many months to go through, if it happens at all. I'll be pissed if they kill it within the next two years since we spent 1k on phones off-contract on EMP
Hm, apparently CM7 is now available on the vibrant. Last I checked it wasn't, and the available roms still had touchjizz, just reskinned.
Also paid an ETF to get my sister off ATT
