Similar to how Medal of Honor: Rising Sun was a big hit in Japan?

Then again, they did make the 194X series...

I had no idea that MOH: RS had a fanbase in Japan at all, so I wouldn't be able to compare them...

Apparently in the PRC "fans" (or those with a positive impression) found Dragon Rising to be basically, "hey, a depiction of the PLA as a high-tech, modern and serious force... even if it's from the enemy POV!" No idea how much they though it was accurate in its depictions of the hardware involved though.

Yes, it was made by communist-nazis-facist-redscum-blahblahblah... So I would argue the same for the developers of the last few Modern Warfare games that was essentially a wankfest of an ultra-nationalist-on-lsd-while-watching-Red-Dawn-for-the-hundredth-time.

Then again, I wonder whether the "outrage" has any element of insecurity in it. After all, the USA invaded more countries in the last couple of decades than China, unless my history is way too off.
Meh, I don't think the "outrage" is any more pronounced than any other nation's outrage at being portrayed as "the bad guys".

I wonder if the game will feature F22s. You're flying along in your brand new J-20, and suddenly there is a missile tracking you from out of no where.

That's about it. It was pretty funny though, I always liked the OPFOR's weapons a lot more, the AK was vastly easier to use than the M16 and didn't have a random chance of jamming in a fight.

Depends on the game. Earlier ones were generic Middle Easterners, Eastern Europeans, whatever depending on the map (I think; it's been a long time since I played). With America's Army III, they were from the fictional Eastern European country of......fuck it, I dunno. Generuskiestan? I think they switched over so there was less inconsistency with the guns and how the enemy always mysteriously fired their AKs on 3-round burst mode.
