In other news, the Amazon seller I bought through apparently resold like a villain. I have no idea if my order is valid or not. :(
It's a full retail version. The only difference is that they have a pull tab on the back to keep it from walking off - they also have the full box that it came in.

They were running around in a bit of a fury trying to find a new PC supplier too. I'm so glad I work two floors down from them, and not on the same floor.

Showed up today. Some initial thoughts:

I'm really enjoying the "card" system for the OS. The entire environment also feels a lot less "Beta" than the Xoom did when it came out. The Kindle app is most of the way there, but sadly doesn't include newspaper subscriptions. It was much easier to set up my corporate exchange account on this thing then it was with my Xoom, perhaps reflecting WebOS "This was once a competitor to WinMo and RIM" heritage in the enterprise sector.

Did I mention I enjoy the card system?

It's heavier than an iPad, but it doesn't feel heavier than my Xoom. Despite being "a hunk of plastic" it doesn't feel cheap. Even the packaging did a great effort at being high class without over the over-the-stop ripping off of Apple packaging.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

So Lonestar, how do you like it? I ask because I have yet to open mine up.

Well, since I can't find one retail because eBay vultures keep buying them up and selling them for a sizable markup, I broke down and bought a 32GB one on eBay for $264 with free shipping. While it may be $100 more than what I probably would've paid at retail, it's still less than half the original retail price, so I guess I still got a good deal.
