Google has only themselves to blame--they took their sweet ass time in developing a coherent UI framework that matches the Apple HIG. Worse still the fact that Android 4.x has such a small install base means that no matter how awesome Jellybean is it might be 12 months or more before its running on a significant number of devices.phongn wrote: I managed to get ICS on my Nexus One; it looks like Mattias Duarte's influence is firmly here. Really Google needs to solve the update problem and solve it fast. Microsoft and Apple have managed to do it and even though I know that Google loves to tout how customizable Android is, it is clear that the OEMs don't have a damn clue what they are doing and need to be roped in. If I were them I'd create two tracks: if an OEM wants to take the open source Android approach then fine, but they have to ship the baseline Android that can accept updates from a single master image to receive Android certification and use the "Android Compatible" certification sticker or whatever.
