Who has the most HD space?
Moderator: Thanas
A whole 18 gigs...
Luckily for me, I only have a 56.6K dialup (that acts like a 52K but I digress) and only 900MHz and 120 MB RAM. With that taken into account, I won't be getting many big ass games to fill it up, and I sure as Hell won't be able to download enough to fill it in the next three years or so...

40GB on my PII-450 down here plus 6GB on my sister's PII-266 upstairs plus 1GB on an unused computer, and 250MB,80MB on loose hard drives that probably don't work. Haven't set up Samba though, so can't share the space.

Re: Who has the most HD space?
Let us see . . . if I network my desktop and my laptop together, I have 40+15 GB on the desktop and an additional 30 GB on the laptop. That's 70 GB total. Sad, for $139 I could double that.Darth Wong wrote:Not counting corporate networks you may have access to, of course :)
My home LAN has 5 PCs on it. They have 80+120GB, 30GB, 80GB, 80GB, and 30+120GB of space on them respectively. That's a total of 540GB of hard disk space accessible through my home LAN.
Anybody else got me beat?
(yes, I'm aware that someday, someone might look through an archive of this board and laugh his ass off that we measured hard drives in mere gigabytes).
<edit>
Aaaah! 40+15+30 != 70!
40+15+30 = 85
Geez!

Hmm. 86GB right now.
The real question, Wong, is how much of your space is porn?

Got an 80 and a 40 on this Athlon 2000+ 1.67GHz monster right now. My sister's got a tenner on her PIII 700 laptop. My mom's old office machine has at least 2 gigs on what I think is a PII 266. My brother (who has my old Compaq) has an 8 and a 4 on a 300 PII, and the ancient Gateway's got a 3/4 gigger (750 megs) on a P180. Combined, that's about 145 gigs throughout the house, none of it networked just yet.
Of course, through the magic of CD burning technology, I have eleven gigs of porn stashed away like the Batcave

On this computer I have a 60gb & 40gb, my laptop has 18gb.
So I've got a total of 118gb, with most of it used.
I'm thinking of buying more hhd space soonish.

6GB on my Pentium 133 and 8GB on my main computer, giving a grand total of 14GB. And then there's the 25 gigs of porn and MP3's I've burned onto CDR's.

Egh, all I need to do is scrape a kilodollar together (with no strings attached whatsoever: that's the trick, getting that much completely liquid cash all at once) and I'll have me a Super Battleship to get on with the killin on! Oh, 40 gigs.
You'd be surprised how much it costs to build your own...it's considerably cheaper than buying a hunk of shit from the likes of dell or so..

60 + 30 + 20 on my computer (at the moment, only about 9.2 gigs free) .
120 + 13 on my parents' computer.
So, 233GB in active storage right now.
I've got two 9GB and one 4.5GB SCSI drives I could put in if I wanted, but my case is a pain in the ass enough to lug to LANs as it is.
I've also got about a dozen IDE drives smaller than 3 gigs (with at least half smaller than 500 megs).
Of course, I have nearly 600 CDs of burned stuff...

Our local Fry's Electronics (God bless Fry's!) has a sale w/Maxtor rebates on 200 gigabyte drives... $250 a pop with a $120 mail-in rebate. End result: $130 for 200 gigs. I'm considering taking $650 out of my savings account and getting another terabyte of space...
I'm kinda sick that way.
