-to more valuable and powerful allies Firerre and Vernii join DARCSID
- In the early history of the region, it was a quiet region filled mostly with moldering old powers resting on the laurels of fast-stagnating technology and a stable, though static international economic equilibrium.
- In a stunning move the Empire of Eizen and several other nations, including the Confederacy of the Ctan create the DARCSID Alliance. Alliance forces quickly occupy many of the old regional powers. Among those escaping the early occupation was the United Federation of the Known Worlds (UFKW.)
- In a series of provocative and escalatory maneuvers, Prime Minister Ben Dilavitch of the Federation and Emperor Eizen I engage in increasingly hostile political and military posturing. Both sides still blame the other as the aggressor in that period.
- Emperor Eizen I initiates a cultural exchange program offering Federal press members a seemingly unprecedented look at the inside of Eizen affairs. This turns out to be a clever ruse to ambush the Federation when the leader of the Federal delegation, Captain Ammons, betrays her country to the DARCSID.
- In response Prime Minister Dilavitch kicks off Operation Farsight, a devastating EMP assault followed by a vicious conventional cruise missile strike against Eizen targets of opportunity. This is met by a vigorous DARCSID counterstrike involving the forces of Eizen, Ctan, and Adumar. The war rapidly escalates to the use of WLRs. Federal resistance bogs down the DARCSID land advance as a seething propaganda war takes place on both sides.
- At the darkest hour of the war, cities on both sides are ravaged by nuclear WLRs. The Federation capital of Winnipeg becomes one of the Fifteen. This marks the first use of Federal kinetic-strike weapons. However, the war ends abruptly when Prince Azure assassinates his father Eizen I. On the Federal side, Admiral Jenni Zelthig and a number of Fleet Admirals execute a military coup against Prime Minister Dilavitch. Ahmed Hassim becomes the Federal Prime Minister.
- The peace following the war was marked by a rapid rebuilding of infrastructure and military by the Federation and the Alliance. The peace is also marked by tense international relations between both sides. It is broken by a brief war between Leet Speak and Neon Simian. With the intervention of the DARCSID, Neon Simian is completely defeated by Leet Speak. During this period of time, Eizen II meets Princess Milyssa of Leet Speak.
- The peace ends with the creation of the Empire of Dukratus and Stellar Circle. Stellar Circle launches a concerted effort at seizing planetary control through the U.N. Sensing an opportunity, Dukratus makes it's move, demanding a large number of Stellar Circle citizens be furnished as slaves to the Dukratus war-machine.
- The international community reacts swiftly to the threats, sanctioning Dukratus and moving their militaries into position. Dukratus backs down only slightly and begins it's own military preparations.
- Dukratus destroys a number of Federal ships and launches an invasion on it's smaller neighbor, Terran Sphere. This results in a declaration of war by the Binak Confederacy, the Federation, Eizen, and Adumar. The Federation, the Confederacy, the Star Commonwealth, and Terran Sphere form the Coalition of Independent Nations.
- The war against Dukratus demonstrated the prevailing schools of military thought of DARCSID with it's large numbers of war droids and military aircraft, and of the Federation with it's EMP first strike and kinetic bombardment of Dukratus targets from space. Dukratus' use of trickery and massive quantities of conscripts fails to save them from the aggressive Federal and DARCSID assault.
- Dukratus launches an audacious nuclear strike against Stellar Circle. However, it meets in failure and so does a desperate Dukratus decapitation strike against Eizen II. The broken leadership of Dukratus flees. Federal forces consolidate the occupied Dukratus territories into the Principality of Federal Territories.
- Shortly after the end of the war, Stellar Circle seizes control of the nominal planetary government (They became UN Delegate.) Repeated threats of action by DARCSID and the Coalition (Comprised of the Federation, and the Federal Territories. Binak left, and Terran Sphere began their period of isolation,) failed to deter Stellar Circle.
- Stellar Circle utilizes United Nations forces to forcibly remove several SDNet nations. This forces the other nations of the region into action. On the political side, Adumar and Kracktopia band together to force Stellar Circle from the position of UN Delegate, by placing the nascent Federal Territories into the position. On the military side, a swift military campaign spooks Stellar Circle into a military coup. Eizen II's half-brother, Gray, seizes Stellar Circle and becomes Citizen Superior.
- After the war, Citizen Superior Gray is strong-armed into giving treaty ports to both the DARCSID and the Federation. With this, things return to the status quo until the arrival of Isla Besaid. In this time-period, Eizen and Leet Speak become bonded, literally at the hip, with the marriage of Eizen II and Princess Milyssa.
- Assisted by Eizen dissidents, Isla Besaid seizes control of the Eizen network of seismic bombs. This network, which would've been deployed at the end of the Great War, has seismic charges scattered throughout the region. Besaid uses this newfound power to devastate a number of nations which had crossed it in some way.
- Emboldened by their success, Isla Besaid allies itself with Citizen Superior Gray of Stellar Circle. Together they threaten Eizen and utilize the seismic network in the way Eizen I had originally envisioned, with a strike against the Federation.
- The Besaid strike against the Federation backfires. It results in a saturation assault against them by the Federal Zeus satellites, completely destroying their command and coordination facilities, as well as any remaining Eizen seismic charges.
- DARCSID moves, rapidly defeats both Stellar Circle and Besaid. Citizen Superior Gray reveals his ties to Eizen. He is killed by Eizen II himself. Prime Minister Ahmed Hassim of the Federation believing that Federal interests in Stellar Circle are at threat, launches a lightning campaign to occupy a large part of Stellar Circle. Eizen overextends itself in occupying the rest of the nation. However, with the might of the DARCSID alliance behind it, the Empire forces the Federation to return the land, and give up it's stake in Isla Besaid.
- Tensions remain high in the region. They are exacerbated by Eizen's threatening of Morecia and the mysterious annhilation of the capital of Visar. As the damage is consistent with kinetic strikes, the DARCSID demands an investigation of the Federation's military infrastructure. This drives the Federation and the Star Commonwealth to set aside their traditional differences to resurrect the Coalition.
- Terran Sphere attempts to mediate between DARCSID and the Coalition. Their intervention, however, is deemed to be unwelcome by Eizen. The sudden uncertainty in Terran Sphere's international standing sparks dissention inside the small nation.
- The escalating international tension sparks a revolt within the Federation. It's Director of Intelligence, John Wright, reveals that the Federation's ace, the USS Ticonderoga. He uses it to effectively trap and imprison the Federal civilian government.
- In a surprise move, Eizen backs Director Wright against the civilian Federation government. And this is the history of SDNet to date, as well as I can remember it.

Thats.......AWESOME
Only one minor footnote, Ctan was never a part of the Great War as they wer enegaged in other ventures otuside of the region. Their involvement would have probably resulted in the destruction of the UFKW seeing as how they were the most powerful region at the time.
And also the conflict between Federation and Star Commonwealth that occured a while back.
Other thn that though

DARCSID is an organization comitted to mutual defense and domination of SDNet, we also give each other favorable economic deals and share technology though those two aren't part of the official charter.Jaded Masses wrote:What is DARCSID? I am thinking I would like to join, but I would like to know more before I find myself subjected to random taxations and the like.
That being said in order to join you must first talk to a DARCSID member who will sponsor you for temporary membership, then at the conclusion of this "probation" (which lasts as long as we feel necessary) we put it to an Alliance wide vote of all full members. There is an Exemption clause though that nations considered to be extremely wealthy and/or powerful may be admitted to full membership without the need for a trial period.

What technology and power level are we playing at, or are we even all at the same levels? I wish to know how I should create my nations military and the like.
And about DARCSID, what are the disadvantages of being a member. Some one has to get screwed. Also, what does it stand for.
And how do we to this game. The forum has massive traffic and the territory's message board is rather hard to read, what with only one thread in it. Do we just work around these things or is there a form of communication I am not aware of?
so many questions...... :sigh:

DARCSID=
"Defense Alliance Representing Collective SDnet Imperial Delgates"
Though one does not have to be an Empire to join of course.
Advantages -> No One Fucks with you without considering the consequences.
Disadvantages - > None that I can think of/
As for communicating use the REgional forum and put "OOC:" in front for out of character, or send a telegram, or you could even post questions in nationstates related threads here on SDnet.

The SDNet region (really it's own planet, given that there's a couple times more population than currently exists on the entire planet) has generally high-levels of technology.Jaded Masses wrote:Check out my new flag. If you want I'll E-mail you with the big image, just tell me.
Also, what technology level are we at?
Military/Aerospace: You'll find that nations will use everything from plain-jane infantry to war droids and 'powersuit' mechanized-armor units. The world is also circled by rather insane numbers of kinetic-kill satellites, as well as satellites capable of killing other satellites, and large-scale spacecraft, including a humongous orbital installation or two capable of delivering incredible amounts of devastation. Though the most extravagant playthings tend to be the dominion of the largest and longest-established nations.
Power: Nuclear power is a must at the absolute minimum. Fusion power, or space-based solar power is also an option. Though with some of the energy levels some have tossed about, there may be some experimentation with high-density energy storage, such as antimatter. So, it would be a safe bet to think perhaps early to near-middle 22nd century levels of technology for the oldest and most potent nations with the others ranging from at least late 20th/21st century.
