Cleaning the disc itself would probably be a better idea.Vertigo1 wrote:Have you tried cleaning the lens of your CD-ROM? (you use a special disk for this. Costs maybe $5, depending on where you look.)

If you're not going to help, then bugger off.Slartibartfast wrote:I've heard that it is a good idea to make a cd-shaped thing from a sheet of sandpaper and put it in your drive. It will remove any impurities on your lens. To clean the CD, try to remove any scratch marks with a fork.

Yeah, thats also something to consider.Darth Wong wrote:Cleaning the disc itself would probably be a better idea.
Typhonis: To safely clean your CD, place it under a water faucet and use water to clean off any debris. Then use a lint-free wrag to dry it off. DO NOT WIPE THE DISK! Dab the wrag on it gently. This will hopefully prevent any scratching on the surface of the disk. On the label side, you can wipe all you want. If you absolutely HAVE to wipe the data side, then wipe slowly from the inside out. Don't use circular motions.
