But you wouldn't peg others as n00bs and wankers for using a certain weapon. Have you ever tried having 'house rules' on a netgame? As soon as someone starts losing, they grab the banned weapons, start going to banned spots, or whatever. Noone plays by any rules outside of a LAN, which is a shame. For instance, in INF I play house rules; no more than one rifle, no more than 8 grenades, etc. You couldn't do that outside of a clanserver on the net; and I hate clans.Anarchist Bunny wrote:I have to disagree with Stark about one thing. I am the anti-clan.

I think I've mentioned this before, but what the fuck, it's still funny.
I'm playing Counter-Strike, de_aztec. I end up on the Terrorist team. So we go for a few rounds, I try my luck at a few things, end up getting into a good rushing groove. With a few kills to my belt, I buy a P90 and some body armor and get ready to rock. We fall out, and I'm like third or fourth man in the group.
Normally, the CTs camp; this is a de level, so nobody complained too badly. But all of a sudden, this round they decided to counter-rush, and threw some flashbangs as we turned the corner. I'm farther away so I only get a minor blinding, but the guys ahead of me are utterly wiped out. I see the CTs swarming over the arch on our side of the bridge, and fall back around the corner. They come running around like bats out of hell, and I aim high and let loose. Killed three of the motherfuckers before they took me down.
Then they start screaming 'omg camper'. What the fuck, asshole? I was standing still for all of five seconds.

If I ever run a Quake/UT/CS Server, I'll have three House Rules and make a point of enforcing them with an Iron Fist.
1. Cheaters Will Be Shot, Kicked, and Permabanned.
2. Sore Losers Will Be Kicked. Repeatedly if Necessary.
3. Bar the Above, ANY-FUCKING-THING GOES!!
I'll make sure to pick maps that don't reward spawn-killing (IE make SKers extremely vulnerable!), but I do have a fondness for Camper City maps...

Semper Fi! I've played CS games where *everyone* is cheating; like 'shotgun-blast-around-a-corner' cheating. God damn mother fucking cheaters!Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:If I ever run a Quake/UT/CS Server, I'll have three House Rules and make a point of enforcing them with an Iron Fist.

Best thing to do, I think, is to LOG cheaters and sore losers, and badge them when they come on. If the no1 guy on a map has 4000frags and a big CHEATING FUCKTOOL badge next to his score, noone has to feel bad
@Ryoga - I've had the same thing happen! Like I'll plink someone off with a rifle at medium range (say 100m), and before the body hits the ground they've typed 'sn1p3r w0r3! b4n b4n b4n!!' :rolls:
Another aspect of this is mod authors; because they don't understand that reality balances itself naturally (I play INF; so sue me:)) they put real guns and shit in, and make the rest of the game wildly innaccurate and UTish. Like Frag.Ops; each side has a MP, but the Terry MP only has 20 rnds instead of 40 for 'game balance'. Would anyone else rather see mods like this have a huge list of realistic weapons you could choose from based on PREFERENCE and PLAY STYLE?
Oh, and INF has all these things already The worst someone can do in INF is what my mate does; black skin, black cam, black balaclava, black M9, hides in shadows If you're looking the right way, you might see the muzzle flash before you die

There's a problem with "cheaters" usually; sometimes it's just the person having good reflexes rather than cheating.
Take me in Counterstrike for instance. In some cases, I have very good reflexes, so I just see the enemy and blast the hell out of them. Thing is, it happens so fast and sometimes I get all headshots, that people call me a cheater.

I don't game online period much anymore, never really have (not that good actually).
My last adventure in playing a FPS online was with SOCOM, when I got dropped just as the level started, I quit after two rounds of this happening and haven't returned. My last semi-normal game was a Quake 3 match, where I did fairly well (20+ players online, and I was always in the Top 5).
Fast reflexes I can accept, I can't except what is clearly cheating (like being dropped by the enemy after one second in SOCOM).

“There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum
I hear you on this; however cheaters are usually detected by the bots they're using, and the horribly impossible things they do (like fire five times simulataneously in different directions). In INF, people die all the time by people turning around at the wrong time and beating them to the trigger; this is certainly not cheating.GoldenFalcon wrote:There's a problem with "cheaters" usually; sometimes it's just the person having good reflexes rather than cheating.

And remember, kids: Anyone who's worse than you is a stooped phucking n00b. Anyone better than you is a total fucking lamer who spends all his time playing the game.
Here here! That's why UT rocks and CS sucks. Losing at UT is more fun than winning at CS.Anarchist Bunny wrote:I have to disagree with Stark about one thing. I'll rarely call cheater, no matter how impossible it seems I give the other play the benefit of the doubt they got lucky or were really good. But sometimes there is a person I just have to call it on. Like when someone constantly pulls off a head shot immediately after he strifes clear from a position with absolutely no line of sight, despite constantly chainging position, moving and bunny hopping and he never once misses a head shot after 20 or so tries to knock him loose.

CTF, never could get a working CS update, and Steam basicly is a spit to the face of 56kers.Stark wrote:Sounds like you've been playing CSAnarchist Bunny wrote:I'll rarely call cheater, no matter how impossible it seems I give the other play the benefit of the doubt they got lucky or were really good.
