Yeah, we're using the old characters, just with a standardized amount of starting xp because a lot of the sheets hadn't been updated with the right amount of xp to reflect the end of the last campaign.

If you're continuing the old character, then re-do the stats, skills, abilities, merits, and flaws (try to be faithful to the original concept, though), but copy over inventory and cybernetics without changing them.

If you're making a new character, then you have $1,000 of starting equipment. I realize that's less than what the people started with in the first campaign, but it fits my original goals. I wanted it to be $1,000 originally, and the only reason I let myself be talked up to $4,000 was because I was an unknown and didn't want to make waves. I never said anything, but I was rather unhappy about everyone starting out with a fucking arsenal of weapons last time.

If you want more, you can take the merit "financially independent", which will increase it to $10,000. No wealth merits past magnitude 1, though, because it doesn't fit the campaign.

Anyway, the price lists are in this document. Weapons tables are also up to date, as are psychic powers, everything else in that file is crap and should be ignored.

People who want cybernetics might want to hold off, as that will be revamped today or tomorrow, but I don't forsee any changes in the prices of items.

OK, so to sum it all up:

Follow the rules laid out in the new Big Book to make (or remake) your characters. You get 450 xp for skills, abilities, and merits/flaws.

If it's a continuing character, copy over the inventory and cybernetics.

If it's a new character, you have $1,000 to build your inventory ($10,000 with "financially independent"). Cybernetics will have to wait until I've revamped that section (today or tomorrow).

Reference files:
Big Book: Go here for rules related to character creation.

Template character sheet: Use this to make your sheet. Don't forget to change the filename when you're done.

Cyberpunk rules supplement: Price lists, weapon stats, psychic powers list, and cybernetics.

Lastly, can I get a headcount for who can be there for Saturday's test session? Even if you only have 10 minutes free, that's fine. I just want to make sure that everyone can connect so we don't have bad surprises on game day. Let's say 2 PM my time (PST, or GMT -0800 if you prefer) this Saturday?

Don't forget the old character sheets for reference.

I can be there on Saturday at 2PM Pacific, or 11AM Eastern. Not that I need help with my sheet, but I can answer questions along with Art.

Just so there's absolutely no confusion this Saturday, here's what you do:
After downloading and installing Python, wxPython, and OpenRPG, run the OpenRPG Client - no console. Go to the menu Game Server -> Browse Servers. Select Better Games Public Server and hit Connect. Select the room that says something like SDN Cyberpunk Test Session, and then hit Join Room. Type in the password (let's say "tehwin"), and bam, you're in the game.

Probably, but it wouldn't work anymore, because there are only two Skill tiers instead of 3. But here's a guide to the XP values for Major and Minor skills up to level 20.

I'm looking at the equipment price list, and I changed my mind. This needs some revision. Working on it right now, new one should be up in about an hour from this post.

EDIT: Oh, and I edited the timeline (mostly the 2022 to present part), and added a primer on the state of technology.

Everything up to "overheating" has been revised. It's way better now. Sorry it took longer than I said it would, but I was unprepared for just how crappy it was.

So now all the price lists and equipment tables are up to date and much better. Tell me if I'm leaving any important pieces of equipment out.

Now I'm going to see if I can't whip the rest of this crappy supplement into shape.

EDIT: Whoops! Forgot to mention that I changed the link. The cyberpunk supplement can now be found here.

OK. Supplement is done for now. I'll eventually add more stuff later, but not for this campaign. I feel much better with a decent supplement than with that piece of garbage that was there.

EDIT: Not to sound cranky, but I'd feel better if someone besides me was posting in this thread. Makes me feel like I'm talking to myself.

Who can make it to the testing session on Saturday?

Wouldn't you know this would be my weekend to work. So, I won't be able to play in the test game this weekend. Sorry. Heck, I don't even know if I'm playing Blaine or a new character yet. 8D

Okay, why how about I'll make a room tomorrow at, say, 8:00 PM my time and then you'll connect. Just so we can make sure that OpenRPG is working for you. That's all I want to do on Saturday, anyway.

We don't start until next Saturday (3rd of July, that is). So there's lots of time.

EDIT: How was D.C.? I've been looking for an excuse to go there someday, as a good friend of mine lives there.

Hate to do this to you guys, but I've decided that Instinct is redundant, and Nerves and Grizzle just don't work very well, so I'm getting rid of them all.

If you put points in Instinct or Nerves, just increase something else by the same amount. If you took points away from them, you'll have to decrease something else.

If you got the merit "grizzled", refund those XP.

Better that I found out now from the last few playtesting sessions than once we started the actual campaign.

...(looking back at the last few posts), I see that I haven't mentioned it before, but I changed the range values for most of the guns, as the system completely broke during a playtesting session the day before yesterday.

So now ranges are given in meters (or ~yards if you like) instead of "squares", the penalties for each range category are decreased, and the range values on most of the guns are different. It should now approximate the effective ranges of the guns in question pretty closely.

So if you filled in your weapon table before yesterday than you should just look at the newest cyberpunk.doc and copy over the new range value.

I highly doubt I'll make any more changes of this nature before we start, so don't be scared to make those characters :)

EDIT: Okay, so far I have character's for Gerard and CorSec, and they are both perfectly OK except for the Nerves, Instinct, and Grizzle bits. Pretty happy with what I've seen so far, and I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, Mass applies to fantasy campaigns with different races who have vastly different weights and builds, but it hardly applies to G&G at all. Unlike the other three, it can be deleted right off the character sheet without having to consider any other changes, since it's only affects were on Physique and Balance, and those already incorporate the value of Mass.

So delete Mass, it's useless and redundant.

Okay, so 8:00 PM PST on OpenRPG. Server "Better Games Public Server". Room "Tensided", password "cyber". Nobody's said one way or the other whether they'll be there or not, so if I don't see anyone for like 15 mins, I'll just assume no one's gonna show.

I think I did this correctly. I sent an updated sheet to GP anyway. As I told him, I deleted those stats and reset the values on those that remained. Since there are 8 left, I assumed I then had 8 points to allocate where needed. Correct, yes? No?

aaah. cool beans!

D.C was pretty nice although I stuck mostly to the NW quadrant and the tourist attractions. Sooo, if you are going somewhere else I can't really help you. It was more than worth it for me to visit though. ^_^

p.s I am having a bitch of a time modifying ernesto to fit the EC rules. ~_~

Yeah you did it right, even after I told you to do it wrong. I had forgotten about those two bonus points going bye bye, and the way I said to do it would have resulted in 2 extra points being spent.
